California Chrome Back from Chile

Pictures of Chrome upon his return from his southern hemisphere breeding season in Chile. He is absolutely gorgeous! (And darned athletic!)

I just love him. I don’t care if that makes me a Chromie.

@Texarkana, me too! He’s the horse version of Cary Grant.

He looks to me like he would jump as well. An athlete.

He’s also probably thinking, WTF, it was SUMMER just a few days ago. Also agree with all of the above.

He looks fabulous. I like that he’s not too fat.

He looks really good! Nice amount of flesh on him without being heavy.
Looks like he enjoyed his romp in the paddock.

I’ll always be a fan of his.

I also think that a lot of the credit should go to his owners and to the amount of information Taylor Made Farm has continued to supply about him. For instance, his shuttling to Chile could have created a huge amount of negative publicity (as it did at first), but Taylor Made very diplomatically made a huge amount of information available to his fans and who came around to realizing that he was in a good place and enjoying himself. The fact that Taylor Made stands to make a lot of money and good will with guided tours of Chrome and Co., licensed souvenirs, a café, etc., doesn’t hurt them either.

When a successful horse retires a lot of time he disappears from view, which can be disappointing for his fans. American Pharoah is a good example of this. Zenyatta’s people, on the other hand, acknowledged her legion of fans and continue to keep them updated with news.

It will be very interesting to see how Chrome’s foals fare in the marketplace, especially since he is sort of a household word in horsey circles.
