IKR - What’s that saying, “Those who do the most amount of talking usually have the least amount of knowledge.”
LaurieB, I was assuming 300 was both northern and southern. Just curious (as we haven’t seen 2017 numbers yet for mares bred) as I was taking a WAG based on 2016 numbers of the stallions that did cover 150 mares or more, not sure that I thought CC’s pedigree matched up in terms of “quality”.
I know a stallion could cover 200+ northern hemisphere only (not sure I think that is a good idea but does happen ) but more would there be 150+ MOs northern and 150 MOs southern (roughly) that would be interested in CC?
I actually think that southern might be a decent option for CC.
Shame about AP Indy being so undesirable
Ahhhh…summer entertainment…from somebody spouting what knowledgeable owners should do who has no knowledge of ownership in general.
Sounds like a win win for all actually involved including CC. Good horsefolk down there, export a lot of quality Sport horses to the USA and some quality racers over the years.
Well, I posted… after choking on the page owner’s assertions that she was indeed an expert on everything to do with racing and horses. What a joke. She isn’t. Back when her precious page was Bring Chrome Home, a strange poster would applaud everything BCH said… and then suddenly the poster seemed to be the Admin and posting just as BCH would. She forgot to log out as her normal FB account and log in as BCH - or did not know that she could have 2 windows open at the same time. Either way, she revealed herself to be a real estate agent in Utah with no horse experience who owned a few fluffy little white dogs that she also posted about as BCH. She carelessly outed herself while suggesting she was actually an “expert on the backstretch and a close friend of Art Sherman”. Snort. All her expertise comes from what she reads online.
Some of the other posters there who are the most vehement are also completely clueless when it comes to horses/racing. One in particular wraps herself in every bizarre conspiracy theory that comes along - so it should come as no surprise that she also pushes conspiracy theories about Chrome. You know Chrome - the amazing horse that only these obsessed Chromies know and communicate with on a spiritual level - and that he is the only horse with personality and human-like qualities. They all want to kiss him on his widdle pink nose.
They are the gift that keeps on giving. I had not checked them out for a while - looks like they are still the same and Chrome is still begging them to help him.
UPDATE: BWAH! CCH has deleted my post - and the posts of another person who asked her what her racing/horse experience was… and I am blocked. No loss - she did the same thing back when I had the gall to point out that all multi-million dollar horses fly overseas in the containers that are loaded into the planes - and that Chrome was not sealed in a “tin can” without light or food or water or heat for the flight as ordered by evil Perry Martin - who is always looking for a way to kill Chrome and collect the insurance. Just another example of CCH’s “expertise”, paranoia and conspiracy theories.
Darn! I didn’t get to read your post. Ha.
At least she (BCH) isn’t asking for $$$…
The PETA crowd has out did itself. They are not interested in the welfare of the horse. They are interested in destroying the relationships between the connections. Divide and conquer. So far it looks as if they’ve been successsful.
BCH has raffled off items in the past. A bit of change perhaps. The real reward for this individual (likely more than one based on writing style) is attention.
Have they started lighting candles for Chrome like they did for Barbaro? Sounds like the same crowd has moved over there too, although the Barbaro bunch also devoted themselves to several worthy causes like raising money for laminitis research and horse slaughter.
SNORT
Someone on that FB page “innocently” asked CCH if she was >>insert her real name<<< . I am stunned that is still up there and none of the minions or CCH herself has noticed it… mind you, it took them almost 24 hours to zero in on my rather mild post - I did not even name names!
That page is a sad little exercise in self-aggrandissement, cluelessness and ignorance - badly disguised as faux expertise and deep meaningful communication/understanding with a horse who does not give a rip about any of them… and could care less.
I know the vet that is flying with him to Chile and will be overseeing him down there. He is in good hands.
Well, that’s sad. The Chromie group has found the Facebook page of the farm where the horse is and have started their advice, criticisms and horrendously naïve remarks.
The horse is in a good-sized stall with straw up his knees and all someone can do is scream in caps that one of the windows is too small and that it looks claustrophobic. Another person said the horse needed to be taken out for a ride. Oye.
It really bugs me that all this time and energy is being spent on a pampered horse who will have the best care for his entire life, when there are real issues out there involving truly suffering horses which would benefit from letter writing campaigns and a public spotlight.
I was thinking something similar as I read some of the comments. Imagine what could happen if they chose to champion a needy horse. The majority of these folks don’t understand that Chrome’s connections want him to be healthy. More than 5 were criticizing that no one was talking to the horse or feeding him treats when he was walking around his new cushy digs. Most appear not to know a thing about basic horse care and behavior. I unfollowed the page because it’s just too much.
Several of the strangest comments on CCH were deleted. Interesting.
Most of the strangest comments are by CCH…
Lol…yes and several are gone. I’m not tuning in anymore. Too many games and a time waster.
Too lazy to start another thread, but Chrome’s full sister, R Sunday Surprise (owned by the Coburns in a partnership–will they never learn) broke her maiden at Del Mar yesterday. One mile on the turf. Good for her.
Saw that she did break her maiden at Del Mar but, IMO, her overall race history didn’t set my world on fire… career 8 starts, 1 first, 0 seconds, 3 thirds, all in maiden specials with the exception of the Golden State Juvenile Fillies Stakes at Santa Anita last November where she finished 9th out of 10 starters.
As much as I am happy for the Coburns’, Martins’ and most of all Chrome I have to agree. The race was written to bring up the the lower end of the maiden special weight contenders at 3 years old and up to give them a shot to stay out of the claiming races. Borderline horses that might yet mature enough to stay in the game another year. I think the purse was more than generous for this class of horse.
In the article (BloodHorse) her current trainer stated RSS is a bit of a head case & they had to start back from scratch with her training.
Who knows, maybe this trainer has figured out how to work around her quirks.
