California Chrome

 what a beast!

He’s just getting better and better.

I hope he’s saving something for the Kentucky Derby.

Avalyn Hunter has done a couple of Blood Horse articles recently about him and about Mr. P.

He looked most impressive, got a few very nice photos of him from the walking ring rail.

Have to admit, this is the first year in a while that I haven’t had a Derby pick because I haven’t really been following any particular horses. Last year and the year before, I was totally rooting for Goldencents and I’ll Have Another because I’d been to the barn before, visited them and gotten to know them. This year, I’m just not as involved.

I was rooting for Honor Code early in the season but he’s out. Looks like I have a new boy to root for! He’s really impressive.

He had so much left. No signs of wear. Just “where’s the next?” Love to see that.

just watched the replay - he sure made things look easy-peasy…

My old friend Willie gallops him, wishing them the best of luck in May!

A little bit of MD connection with Not For Love as a dam sire. Best of luck to them, hope to see them in the Derby winner’s stall at Pimlico.

I was so busy boggling at my payout for the Wood (a combination of exotics including hitting that tri meant I took home around $390) I forgot to look at the Santa Anita–glad I didn’t waste money (short prices) but man, what a looker and what a beast. He might have knocked me off the Tapiture train…He’s on a roll.

Way to represent California!

Acertainsmile, thanks for sharing that picture. Way to represent California is right! Dare I hope?

Honestly, I’ve barely been following this year, so had to go watch the video. and… DAMN. :encouragement:

I just now realized this, but his tail female line is American bred all the way back to Black Selima in 1765!!

Looked up pedigree query to follow him back and reading the info I realized he already has a distinction (sadly) no other horse will ever have—winner of the last stakes race to be held at Betfair Hollywood Park. :frowning: Also had to edit PQ’s info on “Love The Chase” to note that she is the dam of 2014 Kentucky Derby winner California Chrome!

He also had a very famous lead pony for the Derby–Perfect Drift.

It may be on the Paulick Report, but there is a cute You Tube video of the all of the workers back on the farm where he was bred and foaled watching the Derby.

Have to admit that I didn’t pay any attention to the horses leading up to the Derby, but will now.

He was spectacular. I’d keep an eye on Commanding Curve as a challenger in the longer trips. I was going to bet on him as a long shot…he was 50-1 for the Derby and came in second gaining ground, but I didn’t…

I’m so hoping for a Triple Crown.

He’s a cool horse and his connections make such a great story.

Nice to see the Bold Rulers back in the winner’s circle again.

Is this the first American line to win the Derby? A4?
