Long time lurker but new account. I’ve created an account specifically to reach out to the Lexington and surrounding area community… I’m from outside the area and have never boarded there, so I don’t know anyone or about any barns. But due to consistent boarding issues (typical slipping standards of basic care) in my neck of the woods, I’m considering dealing with the hike out there if it means I can find better care. It also gets us closer to my vet, which would be ideal.
I’ve made a few posts on the FB pages and gotten recommendations for some beautiful looking farms. I have yet to set up tours anywhere, but through lurking posts I can tell at least one farm has a staff issue, one may have a “over promise under deliver” kind of situation going on. Others there’s just very little info.
So, Lexington, I need your help. Who’s reputable and who isn’t? Who actually treats their horses and staff well? Who is “that barn” in your community? Which ones would you cringe at when someone tells you they board there?
