Camera For My Trailer?

So, advise on inexpensive camera for my trailer so I can keep an eye on my horses in the truck? I could watch my horses with my rear view mirror with my old one, but now that I have a tack room…no windows to see them! Thanks!

Following.

I got this one off Amazon, it is described as a “back up camera” not specifically for horse trailers: https://www.amazon.com/Magnetic-RVS-…RVS-83112-WiFi. I usually set it in the back window of my trailer, and it transmits live via WiFi to my cell phone. I’ve used it on several trips, longest about 7 hours, and had no issues with losing signal or battery dying. For my purposes it works very well! Here’s what it looks like on my phone (horse is in front stall of a 2 horse slant load):

We use this one, I-ball:

Ours is several years old, was about $70 then.

The camera mounts with a magnet wherever you want it and runs on batteries that last 4-6 hours.
The receiver is for cigarette lighter plug-in and is a little window, but we can see very well the horses in the trailer.

If you need one all the time, maybe one wired in would be worth it.

Thanks…that gives me ideas. Only want it to go trail riding - the longest will be 1 or so away. I loaded my steady-eddie gelding and took him around the block, and the one thing I don’t like is not being able to monitor them.

I have seen folks use their GoPro mounted in the back looking forward, and linked it to their phone’s wifi via the GP app. If you have one, it’s a thought. I haven’t done it, but that’s for a lack of time to see if it really works

I use this. It’s perfect. Simple and no hard wiring required.

I tried that with mine, but the distance was too far to get signal with the camera in the trailer (even in the front). If I had my phone in the back of the vehicle it would work, but not up in the passenger seat. I have been thinking about trying an antenna on the camera to help.

Kicking this up again. So, some of my co-workers have cameras that they can view their new puppies while at work. I was wondering if this could be used for both in my barn  and also the horse trailer or does it need a wifi connnection?

They are likely using Nest cams for this, which require both WiFi and power.

I use a camera from Swift Hitch for my trailer - it works both on a local network directly with your phone and on a shared WiFi network if you are further away. Battery operated and has good night vision. I move it to the back of the trailer when I am parking in tight quarters. It was more expensive, though, around $200.

So can I also use it in the barn when I am not using it in the trailer since it uses WiFi? And will a standard WiFI router reach that far…about 300 feet? Thanks!
