Anybody know what the camera rules will be for WEG?
Are we allowed to take “nice” cameras in (Nikon D50 in particular, it could be considered professional equipment, I guess?)? How about little digitals?

I am planning to go and I would also liek to take my nice Nikon. I would not consider the little digitals as professional, but with my Nikon ???
I have not found any rules so I will just try to get my Nikon in…
This question came up before and something was available on the WEG site about this. I remember that a camera with a detachable lens above a certain length will be considered “professional equipment” and no telephoto lens would be allowed. I ll try and find the thread for you.

This came up on a thread now relegated to page 2:

OP of that thread emailed WEG and got back the following response: “Any type of still photography camera with detachable lenses larger than 6 inches will be considered professional equipment and will not be permitted.”
hmh, if I want to take a picture of something close my lense meets the requirement, but full zoom will exceed it. Argh, how difficult…

Same situation here. What size is the lense your wanting to take? I want to take my 55-200. Not huge, but would probably exceed 6 inches fully extended.
My 55-200 is just about 6" fully extended so I figure I am OK. Plan to walk in with it unextended.
I hAve a 18-200… I do the Same unexpended and than we se how much is 6" in cm exactly?
Multiply inches by 2.54 to get cm. Or by 2.5 if doing in head
Thus 6 inches is about 15 cm.
So, can anyone who has been into the park so far tell us what they are allowing in? Are they really sticking to to 6’’ limit?
from working at various and sundry event throughout the years… you dont want to have the volunteer security folks be the judge on what is allowed or not - they wont have good info and wont have the authority to make any kind of decisions.
my suggestion would be to be SURE your lens done not come close to 6" extended. better safe than sorry
