Campground Suggestions?

For those of you that do overnight camping with your horses, what is your favorite place to go? I am trying to plan out my vacations this year and plan to spend a week or so at a campground with great trail riding.

Here are some of the things that I would like to have.

Water/Electric hookup, sewer or dump station would be awesome but not a must have.

Awesome trails, enough to go on several routes over a 5 day period.

Large campsites, my trailer is pretty big so maneuvering it around a small place is kind of a pain, and I tend to barge in on other peoples space if the pads aren’t big enough.

Trail maps available. Although I am generally willing to get a little lost and have a hand held GPS, I love it if there are trail maps available. So this is a nice to have, not a must have

I am looking for suggestions in VA, WV, TN, NC maybe MD or PA if there were really awesome.

TIA

H. Cooper Black is in SC, but not far from the NC border. I haven’t taken my horse yet, but plan to do it this Spring. I have, however, been there for many, many dog events (used to run my dogs in hunt tests). I can’t wait to go back and ride it.

You should really get on the Horse Trails and Camping group on Facebook.

In TN, I love anything at Big South Fork (favorite campgrounds are Timber Ridge, Saddle Valley, Zenith, and Honeycreek has just reopened - love their trails, but haven’t camped there). East Fork Stables is amazing - tons of trails, great overlooks and things to see, lots of variety. The B campground is my favorite. I like shady, secluded sites, versus lined up like a mobile home park. Catoosa is gorgeous, with an amazing barn and lodge type community area. Trails are easy and pretty.

Lots of people love Orchard Cove, which is in Townsend, with trails into the Smoky Mountains. I like the trails, but I haven’t camped there.

Happy Trails!

If you’re up for the drive, you can’t beat Benezette PA…Days and days worth of trails, awesome scenery…Big Elk Lick Campground fits all your requirements. Well worth the trip.
