Can Anyone Help Me Find My Horse's Competition Record and Info?

I am a dressage rider who purchased a horse that was previously a jumper. I’m trying to find his competition record in the US and Germany and any info about him.

His name is Granny Smith. He’s a 1998 Grandom-Matula (by Matcho) cross and qualified for the bundeschampionat for jumping in 2004 before being sold at the PSI auction. I think he was approved as a stallion by the Hannoverian Verband. He’s schooling GP dressage now and is petrified of jumping. He has old scars on his right hind ankle although there don’t seem to be any long-term issues. Wondering if he had an accident that led to the switch in disciplines?

There’s a video of one of his Bundeschampionat qualifiers in the ad for his stallion here (go to 5:55).

Can anyone help with info or provide his show record here or in Germany?

USEF should be able to help you find his American show record. You could do a horse results search on their site and or contact their customer service for help. Good luck!

There is no Granny Smith in USEF, at least that I found. I did a sire search on Grandom and there were no listings with Matula as the dam. I did find the page for Grandom: http://grandomestates.webs.com/stalliongrandom.htm that mentions Granny Smith.

There is no Granny Smith by Grandom in the Sport Horse database, but there is one by a different sire: http://www.sporthorse-data.com/d?i=10680853

Is he microchipped? Sometimes that number can get you a registration number which is then searchable to get European results.

I found the listing for the dressage horses from the 2004 auction:

Thanks! I couldn’t find anything on Granny Smith in the US either. My trainer is German and was able to find some of the German show records at one point, but I’m having a hard time finding them again. They were show jumping 1.4/5 meters if I remember correctly.

The lady I bought him from bought him during a divorce in 2006/07 (I think?) and didn’t know much about him. Just that he had been imported as a jumper by an amateur owner, gelded to be an easier ride and then passed from trainer to trainer for a year or two. Then when the the divorce happened, the non-horsey husband ended up with the horses and she bought him while he was in a dressage barn. She said everyone called him Granny Smith and sent me several of the pics you will see on Grandom’s website, but she didn’t know why they called him that. Said when she got his papers from Germany he had not been officially named and so she registered him in the US under a different name and had to go through a lot of documentation and testing (i think it was DNA) with the Hanoverian Verband. I can kind of track him from about 2007 on, but still curious what happened from 2004-2007. Maybe I will never know! I just love this horse and want to know everything I can!

GSlover, this is Grandom’s son Granny Smith. Is this your horse?

Have you had this horse scanned for a microchip?

I can se the official show record in Germany. It is as said before. He showed quite a bit over classes upto 1.25m. Than one can see a rider change. He was placed than in 2004 in 6 classes upto 1.45m including one placing at the Bundeschampionat in 2004. Seems to be a prelim class there.
Strangely enough there is no data on licensing which should definetely be in there if he was licensed.
I could see if I have the catalogue of the licensing 2000 in which he should be listed if he was there.
His show name in Germany was Granny Smith - if you have the original passport there should be a sticker in it saying so.
