Can anyone identify this bit?

Not for my horse but for a friend. I can only find something similar as an O ring. TIA!

No name, but that is one nasty bit!! Wrapped wire on tender mouth bars, along with it being copper wire won’t be nice to the horse. Any sideways pull will be like running a rasp over his mouth bars!!

Ever read RAyers piece here on COTH about the shocking effect on horses wearing copper in their mouth? Very enlightening!

Looks like this just with more of a curved mouth

Twisted copper wire jointed D ring snaffle ~ copper promotes more salivation •

*Only harsh as a rider’s hands • used for a strong horse •

Yeah, I’m finding it in single jointed straight bits but I think the curvature is part of the appeal to the horse in question. Someone else told me the bit style is relatively common but I can’t find it online for the life of me and we live in more of a HJ/Dressage area so no western tack shops.

I assume you’ve found this?

You might try calling Bowman directly?

Ah, or

“So no, there is no electrical shock but there is electrical charge flowing through the bit.”

Thanks for correcting my memory. Still a nasty bit with wire wrapping!

I’ve had similar bits, but not that exact one. That bit ring shape is usually referred to as a D ring in western tack. The curved mouthpiece looks like a Dutton or the Bob Avila line of bits from Professional’s Choice.

Have you looked on the inside of one of the bit rings for a maker’s mark or a number?

You could try looking for something that would work at NRSworld.com or browse ebay for a used bit that’s acceptable.
