Can anyone recommend a non-TS belt for wide belt loops?

Another vote for men’s belts. Mine is almost 5 years old, gets worn almost every day in breeches and/or jeans. I believe it is either an older Ariat or a Wrangler belt (similar to this one, only brown:http://www.wrangler.com/store/WRG_STORE_US/en_US/style/bw21541.html?showNonbuyableFromTN=true#categoryId=22204). I did end up having to punch a few extra holes, but am in love with this belt and wouldn’t hesitate to buy more! Another incentive: less than $20!
In looking at the belts I don’t see a lot of difference between the men’s and women’s Ariat belts - except the price. Seems like the simpler women’s belts are priced higher than comparable men’s belts.

I have several wide belts from Target. They were about $14.
This! I also have some good ones from Gap and Lucky Jeans

very helpful thread, thank you!!! So much!!!
(I can’t stand the quilted belts either)

Go to any store anywhere in the country and buy a belt you like the look of, fits, and is a good price - no one cares what the brand is, whether it’s equestrian themed or not. All that matters is you like it

Remember the plaited reins? I really like a dark brown plaited belt (of nice quality) I can get them from LL Bean.

Tarrrrjjjhhhayy n Teejayzz (pronounced Target and TJ’s by commoners) is where it is at ha ha oh and Ohhsccchheannn Estatay (ocean state to you mere mortals) quite often have perfectly presentable polo shirts for under 10$ or 20$ if you want to splurge on a logo

I’m a huge fan of the Ross/TJ Maxx/Marshalls thing. No one says a belt to go to a horse show has to come from a maker of horse things. They’re expensive and I rarely wear those belts in my daily life anyway. So I just pick out something I like, preferably something that horrifies the people I ride with, and go on my merry way for about $10.

NO WAY am I spending the $50-100+ the nice equestrian belts cost. Sorry. I’d rather like, buy a lesson or something.

Another really fun option is a ribbon belt. You make one in any width that ribbon comes in. Grosgrain ribbon works the best and it comes in endless options. You can make one in school or barn colors. Really simple to make and really fun. Also makes a great gift.

I love my Ariat belt. I will admit that I wasn’t willing to spend the money on myself, but I was thrilled when my SO gave it to me for Christmas. I wear it with jeans and with breeches. It is a well made, nice looking belt.

I LOVE this idea! I think it would be really fun to do a belt in barn colors for each rider, especially for the lower key shows where everybody is wearing polos in their barn color anyway.

Target!! I have 3 belts from target that I mostly use for schooling (but would be fine to show in) and I constantly get compliments.
Me too… I have black, brown and light brown. Even got a nice deep red a few weeks ago.

I also have a few of these. They are nice and I get complements on them as well.

Ahahahahahaha! Love it!

I went to C.Wonder, a retail store owned by Tory Burch’s ex-husband, and got the perfect belt. While the belts normally are not Target-priced, I got a reversible belt (black/brown) and a gold letter buckle with my initial for $27.50. Their sales are great! I believe the retail cost would have been about $75. While I cant attest to its durability yet, its good quality and perfect for what I want it to be. AND it looks just as cute as those Hermes belts I see frequenting the horse shows, but has my own personal touch.

Hey, are these too bulky for side zip breeches? Or should I join the ranks of front zippers?

Yay for ribbon belts! Maybe I’ll do a post on the process. They are just so much fun. Color and design options are endless and they are comfortable because they are relatively soft. One major issue with belts is comfort.

Western Apparel Store = Quality Real Leather
Men’s section = lack of bling…a good thing for me!
Sale Rack =

Seriously, I am all about the cheap clothes and definitely have my share of $10-15 belts…but when it comes to the ones I will wear all day long, and while in the saddle moving around, I tend to reach for the nice leather, for comforts sake. So, the ones I had to pay $30 for.

I have a bunch of 1.5" Men’s belts I love, and then I found a 2" wide Justin that is perfect for breeches (and I love the look of to boot!)

Edit to add, I found a link to the one I have. And my memory even served me right, $30

I bought some from Kohls. Fits the wide loops perfectly and only $20.

I bought some great leather belts in brown and black from Target for $14…fit the wide loops and look great!

Thanks so much for these suggestions! What a great set of options to choose from.

I think I may get that popular Target belt in brown and black and maaaaaaaybe spring for a C. Wonder initial belt as well. Good call, those are adorable!
