Can fly spray for cattle be used on horses?

Hello all! My farrier recently suggested that we use a fly spray product called Prozac Beef and Cattle RTU on our horses. It’s available at Tractor Supply and cheaper than the usual horse fly spray we normally use for our two horses. (i. e., Endure or Mosquito Halt and other well known brands)

The product states that it can be used on cattle, goats, horses, sheep, and swine. I hesitate to buy something that isn’t specifically for horses but my DH would like to buy fly spray that is less expensive. This product contains something called vapona.

Is there anyone who has used this before? Is it safe for horses? Thanks for your input!

You can, and it’s labeled for horses.

Vapona is an organophosphate, which are pretty nasty in overdose, though. I, personally, wouldn’t use this because of that. For my own safety, as well as my animals.

Eek!

:scream: Eek indeed!
My farrier uses this:

It’s pretty effective & I used it too, but the aerosol means waste. And it’s pricy.
I switched to another product TSC carries: Gordon’s concentrate that’s 10% pyrethins & water soluble.
I mix it at 1-1/2X strength.
