Can I find out if he is registered as a Welsh pony?

Goodbye to the Winkelman Pony Horses ???

“Winkelman Pony-Horse” w.t.f…[/QUOTE]

Lol! My husband has been trying to figure this out his entire life ???

Also, just wondering if we could back up and talk about this kill pen again? Where is it? Asking for a friend…

I saw him on facebook. Very jealous! he is super cute! he definately looks cob cross to me. You can do the DNA test through WPCSA for a very affordable cost. which will at least narrow down his lines for you which might help in the search

best of luck

Unfortunately, this is not how equine DNA works with the registries. A person can get DNA done on their horse or pony. Those markers then go on file with the Registry. The only verification they can provide is if there is proof of the sire or dam. Those markers are then compared to the sire or dam marker on file…but there is no database that the Registries can dip in to to find ancestors or look up other sires or dams and compare. When doing DNA on a horse or pony, you MUST give them a name of a specific sire and/or dam to compare the DNA to.

that is not what WPCSA sent to me when I was in this very same situation not long ago. I had a pony who was, obviously, of pure welsh breeding but no paperwork trail and they said a DNA test could provide a sire or dam sire, etc but not a solid pedigree, so therefore you would have a place to start (since all reg welsh stallions are DNA tested and filed now).

As stated earlier, you cannot register the pony based on DNA results but if you could at least track the sire down; you have a starting point on who to go to.

I never did go through with this as the pony was sold before I went through with it.
