Can I just rant about platinum performance products for a sec?

I second the reminder that OP has a tendency to be a bit combative in posts. I have a feeling she is young and in that “I think I know more than I actually do and have an opinion about everything” stage most of us go through, where you ignore what everyone else says because you know you are right.

That being said… I have had my horses on PP, and I never even used the colic program. I didn’t get the supplements for the colic “insurance”, I got them because I saw good results. And tbh, if me paying a tiny bit extra helps someone else get surgery for a horse that otherwise might have died, I’m fine with that, even if I’m not in the program myself.

I switched over to SP recently just because I can’t afford the PP right now, but I still would recommend them to people. The point of the supplement isn’t to get colic coverage, it’s to get your horse on a high quality supplement. It’s not predatory, it’s not a scam, you aren’t entitled to lower prices because you can’t be in the program. It’s honestly a bit ridiculous to expect that. I get that you are upset, and taking everything very personally right now, and while venting about your frustration is fine…you aren’t going to convince anyone here otherwise. Not because we are all “PP lovers”, but because anyone who knows anything about marketing knows that’s just how it is.

Jeez now I know why COTH has a reputation of being a bunch of overaged mean girls. I don’t think I’ve even been involved in any drama but hey I’m flattered people here care enough to remember me! It’s just a little funny there’s 120 posts all because I said I thought a popular supplement brand was a ripoff… which I still do.

This made me LOL. Added to signature

Who knew a supplement could cause this much drama? I guess when one has already asked about insurance post colic and received the same answers it’s cool to rant about a supplement company.

OP I don’t use PP even though I have in the past. Colic surgery coverage offered by supplement companies has always been contingent of several factors. Long ago when Strongid was commonly fed they had the same type of program. Their restriction was a colic due to worm load. If it was a gas colic or ulcers, they wouldn’t cover it.

Feed PP or don’t. You were already told in your other thread that insurance won’t cover colics until a year later. Not sure why you would think a supplemental insurance plan offered by a supplement company would be any different.

I’m sorry your horse coliced.

You usually cannot get insurance coverage for the year following colic because of chances of reoccurrence. To expect a free program to be better seems unrealistic. I mean no disrespect.
