Can I throw a pity party?

I’m so sorry. That is a lot of crap things happening at once. I hope the horrible weather passes through quickly to at least make life easier on you.

Same here. By the time the veterinarian arrived, she was fine.

ETA: vet compared it to mittelschmerz

That is so, so much to take all at once. Hope you get rest and relief this week!

Save me a seat at the Head Table if the party is still planned
{KnockWood} so far, so good here, but I have 2 shoulders that can take some leaning on & know that “Please, not now!” feeling all too well.

Sounds like the pressure is easing for you, OP, but I’m still JINGLING :chains::chains::chains:
The movement keeps me warm :sunglasses:

I’m so glad the colic is better! If I can join the party, I’ve had a horse that is showing colic symptoms about once every week or two. He’s getting a full scope work up Friday. Last week right before the bottom dropped out of the thermometer, he was bad enough that I called the emergency line for the vet to see how long to wait before hauling him in again . Apparently hysterical laughter isn’t the usual response to their “are you a current client seen in the last year”.

Oh no! I hope you figure it out.

Your story about laughing at the current client question made me think of what happened when I called my vet Monday for my colic:

I call the business number (which is also my vets cell at the moment) and my vet picks up the phone on the first ring and says, “Hi [Texarkana] what’s up?” This is not the type of relationship we should have!

I swear horses everywhere are getting injured and sick, I am hearing about it a lot.

Sending you jingles and speedy recoveries and health for your herd.

Ugh. That’s a lot to be going through. Hope the warming temperatures are at least making some of it easier to deal with.

Hang in there, pal. Sending calm tides your way!

Thinking about you @Texarkana! I know that feeling when it is all just TOO MUCH and I hope you’re hanging in there!

I’ve noticed this, too. My friend’s mare had mild colic in the recent wild temperature swings. My four year old just spent a week at the state university vet hospital being treated for colitis. (I paid $3000 for him a year ago and this vet bill was $4000. Sigh…) And my two year old has a gash and swelling on one front leg and a sudden cold splint on the other, but he’s not lame on either so I guess I’ll take what I can get.

Jingles to you OP and everyone else dealing with the the myriad ways horses try to maim or kill themselves!

I am glad you invited us. So sorry for all the issues. Jingles for better days.

Thanks again everyone. Your jingles are working and things are feeling like they are on the up swing instead of soul crushing.

Jingles for you and your friend’s horses! I know the feeling of vet bills FAR exceeding purchase prices!
