Can I watch the Derby online?

I don’t have regular TV, so is there a way to watch it online (preferably free) or am I out of luck?

Here is one site ~
http://stream.nbcsports.com/liveextra/

You can check www.lex18.com they have live streaming on all their broadcasts and will be broadcasting from Churchill all day.

This link has free access to NBC Sports, but you also must have that channel as a selection on your tv subscription; i.e., cable, DirectTV, etc. If you don’t have a traditional television, then it’s unlikely that you are subscribed to NBC Sports.

It looks like lex18.com really does have free internet access.

From their website, they will broadcast before and after the Derby, but NBC has exclusive coverage. Now if they are an NBC affiliate, they might be able to stream the Derby, and they do seem to be an NBC affiliate. I guess it’s crapshoot if they can stream the actual race in real time.

Not for the KY Derby: As NBC is also nationally televising it, you absolutely can watch for free via that link. I’ve done it for years.

Lex18 said this morning that they will be able to broadcast and live stream the derby today. All the other races they can’t because of copyright issues. Which totally sucks considering they always have in the past shown all the races.

Add: You can also download the twinspires app and watch the races live too.

I will watch the actual race on my online betting account, Twinspires.com. With most races the tv coverage doesn’t interest me, but for some reason I love the pre-race entertainment value of the KY Derby. But thanks for the warning.

I’d really like to know how how you can live-stream from this site? I can find no tabs to do so. Is this a “KY-only 'site?”
I guarantee you will be able to watch the 'Derby from this site, live-streaming, w/o a cable or dish acct: 4PM; EDT ~ http://stream.nbcsports.com/liveextra/

What is post time? I’m working and will pause for the actual race but cannot add too much coverage either way.

The NBCSports.com link definitely does not work for me. I am an Xfinity (Comcast) customer for basic cable, but I don’t have a tv right now so I only have basic cable and internet. When I try to log into the NBCSports.com site, it asks who my subscriber is. When I click the Xfinity button, then it takes me to a log-in where it checks my cable subscription. Then I get an error message that my subscription does not include this tier to watch NBCSports.

I feel sorry for the NBCSports advertisers. They are the ones that lose. I’ll watch the entertainment stuff on lex18.com, and then switch over to Twinspires.com for the race.

I happen to live in a state that bans gambling on the races, although it has casinos. So I can’t join Twinspires.com or any of the other betting sites. I only have satellite access to the internet and to TV, and I dropped my satellite subscription because of the cost for very little content.

SIGH!

Regular over the air broadcast network NBC has coverage of the remaining undercard starting at 4 EDT and NBCSN, the cable channel, switches to Baseball.

Post time for the Derby is about 6:30…maybe a few minutes later, 6:34 or something.

I tried that link and it asks for the name of a cable provider. hmmm. any other way to do this?

Same here. NBC showed the Woodford Reserve, but no access now unless you have a cable provider.

In previous years, NBC did show it free live streaming. Any other options?

RacingUK stream here… http://www.stream2watch.com/sports/horse-racing/racing-uk-live-stream-may-01
They appear to be carrying the NBC coverage.

Poifect! Thank you. Enjoy their commentary, too.

Post time is 6:34 p.m. E.S.T.

Thanks.

I just discovered that Kentuckyderby.com has a “watch live” screen you can click. I haven’t quite tried it yet, but it looks promising. Will wait a few more minutes. I’m on a satellite internet connection and don’t want to freak it out streaming too much.
