Can We Talk About EBoy?

I am beyond upset and disturbed. Why, WHY hasn’t USEF taken him down?? Are there more like him? Are his clients complicit? Is this something everyone knows about and just looks the other way? Is this really what the top of the sport has become? I’m sick over it.

I would guess that first they must have verified proof, which the testing of horse hair should provide. Also, I would think USEF would want to avoid claims that he was being singled out. So a whole bunch of horses will need to be tested. The “cast a wide net to catch a special fish” scenario.

To be clear, the entire concept of resorting to euthanasia drugs to win a ribbon and fleeting accolades sickens me, too. It was a topic of conversation at the barn yesterday.

I hope you are right and that usef is all over it. Test them all at indoors - start a fund, I’ll be first to contribute.

I’ll chip in, too!!!

Can someone provide a link or a searchable term?

I wonder if some horses will disappear from the scene, go on vacation, and skip indoors until their hair grows out.

And if that’s where some of his past superstars disappeared to

Eboy = Euthanasia Boy

So named because it is alleged he uses pentobarbital as a quieting agent.

You can’t really tell any hair has been removed.

I am not in the hunter world, but I guess my question is how prevalent is this? Is it just this one so-called trainer? I snooped on his Facebook page and he gets a lot of accolades. I guess people just don’t care?

I fear the hair testing won’t help. I don’t know how USEF will be able to prove x horse had y drug in its system on z day. If the day can’t be pinned down, then USEF may not be able to establish the horse was on show grounds when the drug was given, and also in whose care the horse was at the time. I just see too many loopholes for slimeballs to slither through.

I have the same questions

I think the rule is that there are some substances that should never be in a horse at any time, so specificity of date/time of administration won’t matter.

USEF recently expanded their jurisdiction to “unethical treatment” off of showgrounds as well as on showgrounds. General Rule 838

“Scope and Jurisdiction of the Rule
Currently, GR838 applies to abuse and neglect of a horse that occurs on competition grounds.
• Beginning December 1, 2024, GR838 applies anywhere, regardless of whether the Unethical Treatment occurs on or
off the grounds of a Federation competition, including home facilities.
• The Federation does not have the authority to make site visits to private property.
Definition of Unethical Treatment of a Horse
The Unethical Treatment of the Horse involves any action or inaction that may compromise the horse’s health, safety, or
wellbeing, including those that may cause a horse pain, a state of obvious distress, or unnecessary discomfort. It may include
any action(s) or inaction(s) that causes or is likely to cause a horse pain, a state of obvious distress, or unnecessary discomfort.”

So they should not have to be able to prove that use of a euthanasia drug for a purpose other than euthanasia occurred on showgrounds, or when exactly it occurred, it order to hold the responsible person accountable.

Unbelievable. Or maybe too believable.

Thank you, that was a most annoying google search. I knew to put 2 + 2 together from the Baran thread, but I kept looking for a horse named Eboy, which led to all kinds of random things (and no hits on USEF)
