I just recently bought a cutting horse. I was wondering if women can show in cutting? Can youth? I’m 15.
Yes. Two (that I know of - Kathy Daughn and Lindy Burch) have won the NCHA Futurity.
Don’t forget Sandy Bonelli and her mare Shakin Flo- they won a LOT in 1997, if I remember right.
Of course! Now go in there and show the guys UP!
Yes, there are likely youth classes at shows in your area. My last Reiner started life as a cow horse with a female owner. He was a great guy.
There is a youth division at NCHA shows as well as the $2000 limit rider class for beginners. I am a woman and have NCHA earnings and rode with a woman trainer when I was still showing. There are many great women showing cutting horses, both professionally and as non-pros and amateurs.
I don’t do western and know nothing about cutting, but i was watching some doc about horses awhile back and they showed a fabulous cutting horse who was head and shoulders above the rest, owned and ridden by a woman. Go for it!

You did not research this before you bought the horse?
Lots of women and youth cut. Maybe you have a cutting club in your area, that is a great place to start. I have never competed at cutting, but I have had lots of lessons with a local cutting trainer and it is fun.
