Can you judge while you are suspended (RE: Shane George) ?

the purpose of a suspension at the time frame of the infraction ( instead of right away) is to give the penalty the maximum impact.

Hearing and suspensions are given year round. For example; in my state, someone receiving a suspension for an infraction at a July show. If the hearing was in December there would be no punishment except for the fine. We have no shows in December. The penalty during the show season, usually at the same time frame as the show where the infraction occurred, costs the recipient further in lost business, opportunity etc.

Gumshoe -No, no. You misunderstood. That was a joke about how trainers blame everyone else. It was not a dig at grooms at all. Good grooms are priceless and very serious about the welfare of the horses they care for. Trainers throw them under the bus frequently. It was a joke about the whole “environmental contamination” defense.

Got it. A little late. I can be slow.

This was a good article.
What is interesting to me is that in human medicine, we use liquid cocaine to stop post op bleeding in ENT surgeries. It is not medically used to juice anyone up. I cannot imagine what benefit it could possibly have on a horse that would outweigh the side effects or risks. JMV

Gumshoe - further anecdotes of trainers throwing grooms under the bus about drugging horses. That thread is really depressing. People really stretching to rationalize drugging to win.

Didn’t Bruce Burr take the fall for Mario Deslauriers when Urico tested positive for cocaine?

Who can keep up with it?

Yes he did.

However Jane Clark , rather tellingly, dumped Deslauriers and stood behind Mr. Burr. The USEF reinstated Mr. Burr. who by all accounts (not just Ms. Clark’s) is not one to push cocaine to horses.

That was an interesting thread… http://www.chronofhorse.com/forum/showthread.php?357394-Bruce-Burr-supended-2-years&highlight=Bruce+Burr
