Canary Breeches

I’d want a stock tie in white to contrast with the canary vest. And the biggest plain gold stock pin that I could find.

RE hunting in deerskin breeches --one of the MFH has them and finds them lovely except in rain when they become not only wet, but cold. They are a challenge to clean too and he is often off his horse into mud. Finally, he said they have begun to “bag” at the knee. I still love looking at them when he rides out–so classic!

How the heck DO folks keep them clean? Seriously…maybe I’m just a pigpen, but I always manage to get something on my breeches. How do they keep the doeskin clean-ish?

Wow! What is it like to hunt in buckskin breeches? Is there stretch?

I almost got my hands on some 28L canary breeches on eBay but forgot about them until the bidding had ended and I’ve been on the look out ever since.[/QUOTE]

Yes - they move with you. Think of the softest pliable goat suede but thicker. They grip like magic!

They can be machine washed in a leather type wash.

Really? I had no idea! Like the same wash you’d use with full seat breeches?

Yes. They come out soft and pliable as well. Amazing and worth every penny. If I didn’t stop hunting I would never have sold these. The cut as well is perfection, they give you a super model butt!

Super model butt? Sign me up!

After reading this post, I ordered Canary Breeches from Shires --absolutely beautiful! Even with shipping cost was $60. Planning to wear them on the hunt field next week!

Post pictures, won’t you! Do they fit you well? I noticed they don’t have tall so I’m wondering how the knee patches are for the regular size.

I will post pictures as soon as I can find someone to take them. May have to wait until Sunday on the hunt field. Actually, I’ll have to check on the knee patches --I thought the ones I got were full seat, but might just be I didn’t look closely because I was so excited --it seems to me the breeches fit HIGHER than the last pair I bought (I so dislike low rise breeches --my shirt tail won’t stay in and there’s a gap between my vest and belt!) I bought my usual size 32s, and I’m relatively tall (5’9") and I thought they fit awesome --not too tight at all --and I feel there’s room for my long underwear when it gets colder. Really nice heavy knit fabric. Pix soon.

Checked and the breeches do have knee patches, not the full seat I thought I saw. The knee patches fit where they should on me. If you have a pair of breeches that you think fit well and have the knee patch in the right spot, measure from the crotch seam to the middle of the knee patch and let me know the measurement. I’ll do the same on these. Remember, mine are a 32, so the “patch” location might vary depending on size of the over all breeches.

Saw these on one of the dressage threads and am in love: http://www.ridemastermind.com/mastermind-collection/rigoletto-banana-1

:love-struck:

Not sure if they would be appropriate for a more conservative hunt (note the black full-seat and black contrast stitching), but they are gorgeous and on an amazing sale. So sad my size is sold out :frowning:

Here are photos. Imoen, the breeches you posted seem to me to be really low rise! I liked the Shires because they were not. Hard to keep a shirt tail in with some of the low rise breeches!

Oh my gosh, Foxglove, those photos are gorgeous! Love the vest, too!

I have a pair of Horse Country canary breeches posted on Foxhunters on Facebook if you are still looking. They have been worn minimally, but are in fantastic shape! I think they are 30s, but fit similarly to a 28.

Saw a bunch of Colt Cromwell canary breeches at Saddlery Liquidators this weekend.
