Anyone have any experience with either/both??
I really want to try but don’t know where to start. Plus, I’d probably have to get a new dog… my Saluki was born trained to heel. I don’t think he knows what pull means!

I believe someone in the local dog club just mentioned this. She uses her Smooth Collie for this. I’ll check with the club (Wednesday night) to see if there are any good websites for these activities and report back.
I just recently ordered a harness and lines to do bikejoring/skijoring with my guy, 35 lb mix breed. If we ever get enough snow to ski!!
There are a lot of resources out there on the web, Skijor now (http://www.skijornow.com); bikejor.com (http://www.bikejor.com) has a really good section on training; and sleddogcentral.com also has a skijoring section with lots of good links.
I have found the general recommendation is that it is best to start with canicross to teach your dog the appropriate commands and then work up to skiing/biking. You can basically do canicross with any harness and 6/8 foot leash. If you’ve not used a harness on your dog, you might be surprised how easy it is to teach him to pull; my guy knows harness = pull, collar = heal. They don’t have to be hard core pullers to do either cross or ski/bikejoring, just as long as they are willing to move out in front of you and at minimum keep the line taut.
My harness was a custom order so I won’t get it for a few weeks, but I’m hopeful my guy will like the added speed of the bike as opposed to just doing cross at a jog!
