In my quest to find a maintenance type joint product for my 2yo Lab, I had this product recommended to me by members on canine message board.

Does anybody here have experience with the company or their products? It sounds like the same company that manufactures equine products (HorseTech). They are sending me a few free samples, because I’ve never given my dog any type of supplement. The prices seem very economical and they have free shipping!
I am trying it on 2 of my dogs but i dont notice a difference in them but that does not mean its not working. They dont really have any serious issues.
I have a 13 year old lab/shepherd mix that has hip dysplasia and he is on the horse version of Acti-Flex 4000 and i do notice a difference when he is on it. I can tell he feels much better.It is very economical because you only give them 1/4 of the horse dose and it will last one dog about 4 months for about $27.It is a liquid i put on his food and even thou he is a very picky eater he has no problem eating it. This is the only supp that i noticed a differnce when he takes it.

I did use the canine Actiflex on my old Lab, and noticed a difference within a few days. I don’t want to deal with a liquid, and my old dog got to the point he didn’t want to eat it. I have a whole quart sitting at home, but I’m sure it’s probably well past it’s expiration date. My 2yo has no health issues, but is very active. I want to help his joints as much as possible now, so that he goes into old age in as good of a shape as possible.
it is the same company that makes Hylasport Equine. On paper Hylasport Canine has all of the proper joint ingredients in the proper amounts for dogs- many/most products for dogs have only one or two of the key ingredients.
Most of the horse supplements don’t have anywhere near enough chondroitin for dogs, as tempting as it may be to buy them and just give a low dose to your dog.
I have used it and saw immediate improvement in my dog. Need to get some more ordered, thanks for hte reminder! BTW the people at horsetech are the best, very friendly, answer all questions, and prompt service. HIghly recommend.
1/4 dose of Acti flex 4000 has 1000 mg of chondroiton and 2000mg of Glucosamine as well as Ha and other things. That is as much or more than the Hylasport. My vet said that the average dog should get 1500 mg of Glucosamine
I’ve always had great experiences with Horsetech, and gave my dog the doggie version for a while (took her off for other reasons). If you found that you needed a different dosage, get in touch and they may be able to mix up whatever you actually need.
Love Horsetech and use Hylasport for both my horse and my dog. It really seems to help my older Aussie. Horsetech is top notch when it comes to customer service, if you call them they will usually send you a sample you can try out.

Another quick question though - do you feed the 10gm all at one time - in one feeding (aka “once per day”), or do you feed 5gm in the am and 5gm in the pm?
My dogs aren’t that big so they got one scoop, once a day. Harley, my Aussie, is about 45 pounds.
I have my mini aussie pup on it. She is about 16months old with no problems. I started her on it because she is such a “rough house” dog, always wrestling with my sis’s 85lb shepherd/collie mix. My dog is 30lbs. She also likes to get up on the picnic table and jump down, climb on the wood pile, run like the wind. I figured it wouldn’t hurt to be preventative. I have used the company’s horse version for years, and it really seems to keep my mare moving well at 17yo. Love the cookies too… and can’t beat free shipping. I give the 10grams(2 small scoops) with her morning meal.
