can't post a reply to the best of 2009 thread

I’m getting an error message telling me that my post is too short, has to be at least 1 character. My post is quite long, so this makes no sense.

I tried making my post shorter, still doesn’t like it. ???

Hi Lori ~

I checked around re: possibilities for this error message and found some info re: potential bugs it could be. Does the error message mention something re: a mismatched or missing security token?

If you’re still having trouble posting, could you please clear your cache and try again?

Please report back with the results either way so we know which end it’s on.

Thanks!

Nothing about a security token. Just that the post was ‘too short’. ??? will see if clearing the cache is any help at all, and post back.

Cleared cache, still can’t post my reply. ???

Additionally, it does the exact same thing in IE 8.

This is the message:
• The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 1 characters.
• Solution:

    1. post a 1 word reply.

    2. Edit the reply.

    3. Paste in what I tried to enter the first time.

    4. save

It worked. Don’t understand why it didn’t work before, but it worked this time.

I think I may have figured it out. Were you copying the list of questions from the OP and then inserting your answers within the quote?

I was just playing around with doing that, and if you don’t have any additional text outside of the quote, it doesn’t look like the software recognizes that you’ve actually written anything of your own, so your reply is deemed “too short.”

Let me know if you have the problem elsewhere, but I think that was the issue!

    YES, exactly.
I had my answers posted inside the very long quote.

I love when software tries to ‘help’ me.

    Amen.
