I shudder to think of what happens to the majority of racehorses in China, etc. These are the lucky ones. Turf racing is big over there, like Europe, so wouldn’t surprise me if they are very nice individuals with great potential. Definitely lucky escapees!

Im not a jockey but I ride at Hong Kong Jockey Club so I visit their stables often~

I can promise you HONG KONG is still different from CHINA when it comes to animal treatments and animal welfare. HK racehorses are being well taken care of and the horse racing safety/veterinary treatment is definitely up to international standard. Even we are unfortunately part of China now Im glad we are still more civilized in this aspect. (although I personally think that horse racing itself is butual … )
