Canterbury's Extreme Race Day . . .

. . . entertains over 18k fans. There was something for everyone including birdwatchers and desert safari enthusiasts. The industry should be mesmerized by what is going on in MN. Their handle is way up too. It’s not just the land of big shopping malls and terrible weather. And here I thought MN was a boring place. Wake up VA, let’s get back to racing. What about a picnic basket pull? We could have a different surface race with the VRC members pulling baskets on the turf and the horsemen leadership pulling on the dirt. Woops. That won’t work. VA doesn’t have a dirt track. Right now we don’t have much of anything. Well, maybe Canterbury will live stream to VA. Something is better than nothing.

I have about 72 reasons why I’d like to move to MN right now, but one thing keeps overriding the entire list…

…weather.

Canterbury got my attention a few years ago when I had a slew of students from the Minneapolis region. Usually when people (horse people or not) find out I’m involved in racing, the reactions range from indifference to disgust. Yet every student’s reaction was, “OMG! I love horse racing! Have you ever been to Canterbury Park???”

I cut my teeth galloping at CBY. Great atmosphere and summer is top notch. Winter Weather is cold but doesnt stop folks from getting out. We are a hearty lot up north

Summer is NORMALLY top notch, but today it’s 96 with a heat index of over 100 and tomorrow’s heat index is supposed to be 111. But I still love it here!!!
