Care of your leather cowboy boots?

Just curious if there are any products/procedures people use to keep their boots looking nice. I have a pair of the ariat heritage boots. Regular leather (nothing exotic). Thanks in advance.

First I clean my boots really well to remove any dirt.

Once dry, I use the Bick 4 Leather Conditioner. I use this on all my boots.

Once that has had time to dry, then I apply a light layer of waterproofing spray. I can’t recall the brand I have at home … last time I bought some more I had a heck of a time finding it, so I bought 6 cans at once (online) from a place in Texas. But it works so well.

Ditto on the Bick 4 Leather Conditioner. I use it on all of my boots. Great stuff.

Make that 3 for Bick 4. I’ve got 2 sets of work boots, daily boots, and a pair of nice boots for my formal needs. Bick 4 takes care of all of them well.

Where is the best place to buy Bick 4 on line? As in best price? I live in the boondocks.

Try Amazon, they usually have the best price on everything.

Is the Bick 4 better to use on cowboy boots than the Higher Standards Leather Care?

If anyone has used both, could you elaborate on the differences?

Thank you!
Joyce

I’ve not used Higher Standard, but I did a quick search and it is way more expensive than Bick 4. The Bick 4 hasn’t darkened any of my leathers or caused any problems whatsoever. I wouldn’t spend on the Higher Standard, but I’m always broke anyway!

Thanks for the info. I have the Higher Standards for our saddles so I may give it a try and buy the Bicks 4 next time.

Make sure you check it somewhere you don’t normally see on the leather first if you don’t want darker boots! If you don’t care about the leather getting darker then no need to test it.

Thanks for the tip Dani!

I use higher standards. If your heritage boots are like mine they are a bit sueded. I haven’t tried to preserved that. Mine have worn to a deep shiny brown. I also use some Australian weather proofing balm on them. Yellow can, smells like pine. I forget the name but they always have a couple of folks offering to rub it into your shoes for free at the expos.
