Carrick Diamond Lad and/or Cruising - anyone breed/own these foals?

I’m looking at two stallions for potential breeding partners- Carrick Diamond Lad and a son of his out of a Cruising/Clover Hill mare. Obvious drawback to the son is he is young and hasn’t done much, but his pedigree is like a “who’s who” of Irish breeding. I really like Carrick Diamond Lad himself, but he’s getting on in years and this might mean I breed sooner than originally planned.

The mare is a TB cross with great conformation and phenomenal talent for a horse that was not purpose bred for SJ. She is built strong and sound, uphill and naturally balanced without being heavy- she’s like a TB with good thick bone. I’m looking to breed a baby that can do double duty in the jump ring and on the hunt field.

Does anyone own foals out of Carrick Diamond Lad or Cruising and can tell me how they stamp their foals, temperament and talent-wise? Also, is there a particular type of mare you would definitely breed/ not breed to either one of those?

My friend had a Carricks Diamond Lad offspring who she imported from Ireland as a resale project. He was a sweet horse, who evented very successfully at Prelim. She was about to move him to Intermediate when a mother-daughter fell in love with him. The daughter events him, but he was quiet enough for the mother.

Thank you

I have had loads of Carrick Diamond Lad horses he crosses very well with blood mares especially Cruising mares. There is lots of examples on my facebook page in photo gallery.https://www.facebook.com/Lowhill-Horses-Ireland-178176625858128/ I think his sun that you are talking about is out of a Cruising mare and the grandam is Cavalierroyal not Clover hill.I have also bred to this horse and have a super yearling gelding pictures can be sent on to you if requested.

Looked at your page- gorgeous horses! I’m in the UK, so actually when I’m ready to buy as well I saved your page to PM too  May be a hot minute because moving put a big dent in my budget, but when I breed the mare, I am likely going to look for a nice 3-5 year old to play with.

Thank you, I will post photos of the yearling by Carrick Kilderry Diamond (Carrick x Cruising X Cavalier Royal.) I think this horse is going to be a super stallion for the future. I have the same mare in foal to him again and there is some lovely foals on the ground by him this year super movers with great temperaments like himself.
