Carrico- WEF Hunter Spectacular

I was watching this class last night and watched this beautiful stallion go around the course. While he was doing so, the announcer said he had “over 1000 babies on the ground!” Is this even possible for a showing stallion? I’ve never heard of him, so I don’t know how old he is or how long he has been around. I don’t know if he was over in Europe before he came over here to become a show horse. Can anyone enlighten me? This number just seems awfully high to me. They announced it again when he came back for the second round. Just curious.

I would say it is possible.
Carrico was born in 2003, was a premium stallion at the Holsteiner Approvals, won his 30- and 70-day tests before going on to have success as a young jumper in Germany. His frozen semen is still available in Europe.

Carrico was (is) very popular as a breeding stallion in Germany. He stood at the Beerbaum stables who now also broker frozen semen.

Approved with many registries and jumped to the GP level with Philip Weisshaupt (who also rode his father, Catoki). I have a Catoki baby and love the versatility, athleticism and good mind that Catoki brings to his babies. Pretty impressive to see Carrico in the hunter ring after having watched him in the GPs in Europe. I saw the video and OH BOY is he smooth, elegant, & with a perfect jump.

His current owner is lovely, a very talented ammy. I do not think he is available to the public at this time, one can only hope he might be in the future.

Thank you. I don’t know why I didn’t even think of frozen, but it never even crossed my mind. It does make more sense now. He was stunningly Beautiful. I hope he does well for a long time!!

I did some pedigree research as I was watching last night and according to USEF Kelley Farmer’s mount Like I Said is actually a Carrico daughter. Anybody know if this is correct?
Anybody know the breeding on Catch Me BTW? It is, of course, listed as “unknown”…grrr…

Definitely possible as Carrico had many offspring in Germany before coming to the US. He passes on lovely movement AND jump.
