I really love seeing people who are successful invest in their passion. I know he grew up riding saddleseat, and it’s nice to see someone who used his fame/money to invest money in something meaningful to him (versus like, bathing in spring water or gold-plated bathtubs or whatever).

I remember him and Tara Lipinsky, the skating star, doing commentary/announcing for one of the Olympics. They were introduced as having ridden (and showed, IIRC) as children, apparently the only remotely horsey semi-celebrities they could find. Nothing, however, about his decorating OBSESSION! Impressive!

His place is gorgeous and he still shows saddlebreds.
I ran into him at a horseshow and my son who was 3 or 4 recognized him and was so excited. He was the best sport about it and very nice even though I’m sure he was super busy.
