Does anyone know why Casanova Hunt canceled their point to point for this year?
I’m not sure who owned the land the point to point was on, but I do know the owner of one of the biggest TB farms in Casanova just passed away. For some reason, I think its the same man who owned the farm where the races were held…but don’t quote me on that. The name of the farm escapes me right now, but one of my friends has friends who worked at the farm and they are all getting severance packages to stay until all the horses are sold and things wrapped up. I have no idea what will happen to the farm…
Again, please don’t quote me on this info…I don’t know that the two pieces of info are related, but my best guess is that they are…
Hopefully someone else will be able to confirm.
Completely unrelated.
Casanova decided months ago to cancel their point to point due to having been snowed out – a lot – in past years ($$ loss), having a changing/shrinking point to point horse/rider population ($$ loss) and just the economy in general.
They are still having their hunter pace that Sunday, Feb. 27 or so.
I’m going to do a big news piece on it but that’s the basic info.
Zero pertinence that Ned Evans died.
Sad news for me and many others I’m sure!
Won the pair race (fast time) ages ago…
