Cashel Fly/Bug belly guard--has anyone tried this?

Just stumbled across this today. Looks interesting. My fella isn’t much of a roller, so it might not shift too much, but his poor belly is already a raw mess from the biting critters. Has anyone tried one? Thoughts?

Yes, I ordered it and then sent it back. In theory it is a good idea, but it would have never held up. The attachments are just velcro and the elastic seemed too flimsy. Even on the largest size/openings it wouldn’t properly fit my 15H and somewhat hefty Appy. He could have also decided to rip it off if he wanted to;).

Anyway, it’s too bad. I really like their products, my horses live in their fly masks, and they were also super about taking it back. The only solution I’ve found to ease his suffering is to bring him in during the day.

Drat! But thanks for the info.

Shame! I am desperately trying to find something for the Pony who is becoming a lumpy MESS from the bugs, even on night turnout sigh

I am having some luck with streaking a swath of SWAT down the center (chest to sheath) of his belly with “quarter lines” on either side. But, that isn’t a permanent solution unless one doesn’t mind greasy, dirt-/pollen-attracting belly.

my one client thought the bug buster line of fly sheets from rambo helped her mare with gnat allergies…

I just got one for my guy who has summer sores on his penis. Looking at it, can’t figure out how to put it on. Anyone?

I’ve seen them used a couple of times on outside horses up here who get summer sores in their sheath. If you lay it out on the ground, from front to back, and look at photos of it in use (like from Amazon or Big Dee’s) it’ll make sense.

There’s a small bib section that goes across the front of the chest with a neck strap, then a wither strap and a sort of crupper piece.

One hack that helps hold it in place is to add an additional strap lengthwise over your horse’s back, so that it connects the wither strap to the strap over his haunches. My friend just used a stretchy leg strap off an old blanket.

I have one that Iuse on my gelding who will get sores on his sheath. No problems using it. I did tape the velcro attachments once it was fitted. I used it under his Buccas flysheet with belly band. Kept the gnats of his sheath and no sores. He wore it 24/7 with a daily blanket check.
