My family and I are traveling to Scotland in July 2025. Does anyone know if there are any castles you can stay at, that have horses on the premises we can ride? Like for 2 hours? We won’t have a car and can’t drive to stables.
Thank you!

Gleneagles Hotel in Auchterarder is not a “castle”, but it is a grand country estate, and has horse riding opportunties on site. Not cheap.
Watching this thread with interest in case I ever get back to Scotland again.
If you end up staying near Edinburgh, there’s a place called Tower Riding Stables, I think, that would probably be an easy Uber ride from town.
They will take you on rides on their horses with incredible scenery, and you can choose how much of a ride you want as far as length of time and speed.
View of Edinburgh Castle in the background during the ride.
I believe this horse’s name was Monarch, and if you look on the Tower Riding Facebook page, you will see he does all sorts of interesting things.
