I am feeding my older cat quality grain free wet food and she is doing well on it. A little throwing up, but, that has been a problem since she was younger so she was checked out. My only current problem is sometimes she won’t eat her food. Right now she will only eat seafood which I believe shouldn’t be fed all the time. Any suggestions for a seafood junkie cat?
No suggestions, but will follow this, as I have THREE cats that refuse to touch any wet food that doesn’t contain seafood. They all used to eat anything. Chicken, beef, turkey, but now, nope, just seafood varieties.
Mine, too. His favourite used to be turkey n cheese, but now it’s trout preferably, and other fish dishes at a pinch, with much grumbling. The cat food variety - Friskies, I think.
Their pallets fade as they age, I think, which is why the smelly foods become appealing - the others begin to taste like cardboard, I can only assume.
Count me in I’ve had one who only likes salmon flavored wet food and seafood dry. She will flat out call my bluff and starve herself if I don’t follow orders and get the right fishy food.
For one that has eaten other flavors in the past but is now pickier: I would be concerned that she’s just not feeling well, and the seafood stuff is just more palatable. Older cat, puking, inappetence…have her kidney values been checked recently??

No, I need to get that done…
I wish my 17-y-o cat would just SETTLE on a flavor and stick with it for more than a week!
He’s gotten very skinny in the last few years and therefore gets as much wet food as he’ll eat 4 times a day. Problem is, this week he decides he loves turkey. Next week, turkey’s clearly toxic to kitties! And he’ll only consider beef. My pantry looks like the cat food aisle at the grocery store as I stockpile a huge variety for His Highness.
The other cats love it, though, when Cowboy turns up his nose at a certain variety–the get the leftovers!
