Cat Bitten by Rattlesnake

My Rocket cat is at the er vet right now getting anti venom for a suspected rattlesnake bite to his face. He’s stable but in intensive care. He has extensive swelling and bruising around the face a neck and one suspicious puncture on the top of his head, somewhat consistent with a snake fang. His blood work was inconclusive

I don’t even care about money, I just need him to be ok. I’m a complete wreck. If you can please spare some good thoughts or prayers for him it would be most appreciated. I can’t lose him. I just can’t. He’s a very special kitty to me and has been since the day I found him in a tumbleweed as a tiny, terrified 4 week old orphan.

As of this morning he has received his course of anti venom and had no adverse reactions to it. His breathing is a bit shallow which the vet suspects is pain. They switched him from oral to IV pain meds. He’s still stable and right now it’s a wait and see game.

He’s survived so far which is a testament to his toughness. He’s swollen and hurting but still stable. Now we just have yo wait and see. It’s going to be a long day at work

What a sweetheart.

Antivenin does wonders, will help minimize the swelling.
We had a horse bitten a month ago.
He got antivenin right away, his front leg only swelled to the elbow and he was like new in two weeks.

My little miracle kitty is gonna make it! They want to keep him tonight because he’s still too sore to eat and a bit atyxic from the fentanyl but they say he’s mostly out of the woods. I can’t stop crying from relief.

Oh such great news for you. We had a little "Adolescent: kitty bitten by a 6 ft. rattlesnake right on our pool coping.
I saw it happen and reacted quickly w/ my gun. The kitty pulled back and started backing up. rushed her to a local vet
who was closed, after 6pm, but banged on his back door and he let us in and luckily had anti-venom on hand. She apparently
foiled the bite by pulling back and she never had a reaction at all.
Here’s hoping your little one rapidly improves.

Yay, I’m so glad he will be okay. A few years ago one of our barn cats appeared with a head the size of a softball and two fangs marks. He recovered all by himself with no ill effects.
