My older cat of 17 years is constantly gently pawing me. I feed her literally all night since at her age I figure she needs extra nutrition. Our vet thinks she is in pretty good shape for her age, but, it is getting wearing getting up five and six times a night to feed her. The vet is coming to trim her claws in a couple of days so right now her claws are like needles yikes. Has anybody had a cat do this? She didn’t do this when she was younger so maybe it is an old age thing.
Has anything else changed? Water intake or food?
Could it be because the temperature has gotten colder lately?
I’m in MA too. One of the reasons I look forward to fall the most is because my non-cuddly cat turns into Queen Snuggles when she is cold… but she also will claw the flip out of my face in the middle of the night to get under the covers.
She has always been extra grabby though… she can’t keep her hands to herself. God forbid you walk by her food bowl at any hour, she will claw/grab at you and scream that she is hungry… even when the food bowl is full.
Older kitty, being a PITA at night and eating a lot? Might be worthwhile to consider hyperthyroidism?

Good point. Our vet is coming over on Wednesday evening I will ask about that.
Maybe some dementia/anxiety- try a Feliway plug in. I have one cat with undiagnosable issues that is getting aggressive at night- we give him gabapentin in his dinner to make his behavior manageable until I can make a decision
Any update OP?
