Cat Strollers -- Good Idea? Terrible Idea?

![]('ve seen some online but they are for both dogs and cats, and they don’t seem to zip all around, but to have some sort of “tie-down” flap through which the animal can escape if not strapped in.
Do any of you know of any that zip all the way around? I don’t mind strapping my cat in, but I still want full secure closing.

Or is it a bad idea to even try one? She is 15 and hasn’t been outdoors out of her carrier in 8 years, but she loves looking out the screen door at our new place so I thought she might enjoy sitting out on the patio with me in a stroller.

Or I can make her one, using my shopping cart and her carrier and some sort of platform to mount her carrier on top of my cart …

i would just get a crate. Maybe a harness also, so that you’ll have an easier time of getting her out if she tried to get away?

We bought the Gen7 Pet stroller for our aged small dog; what I would call the “hood” zips all the way around, and the access slot at the back of the pet compartment (I suppose it’s there so the person could reach instead without unzipping and pulling back the hood) zips shut.

I just opened ours out, and can’t see how an animal could escape without tearing the stroller up.

There are also two straps in the pet compartment, one at each side, for fastening to the animal’s collar or harness.

This stroller folds and unfolds easily, and rolls quietly; our little dog always seemed comfortable when in it. The pad in the animal compartment is on the thinner side, however, but I always added his own blankets or towels for extra padding (and he was comfy enough to doze off).

It was a lifesaver when we traveled.

I have a pet stroller and my cat absolutely LOVES it. The first picture is very similar to mine except mine has a shelf across the top to put in a water bottle or other things (like keys, etc.) I have had the Outward Hound for many years. Though I don’t take my kittie out very much any more, he used to hop in it and yowl to go out for a ride. The top zips all around so he can’t get out.

I would not get this one again; they have improved. My kittie has to lay down in a sphinx position. There is not enough room for him to sit up. Newer strollers have enough room for them to sit up. I wouldn’t bother trying to fix up your shopping cart; just get something made for the purpose.

My Outward Hound stoller is similar to this one:

This sounds terrible, but I don’t want to get that started at my house. They have a screened in back porch and that’s going to have to be enough. They already sit in front of it and protest, loudly, when the door is shut and I can’t imagine hearing 3 howl to go out. lol

My kittie only yowled when I was taking him out every night. That stopped years ago.

Those reviews of the stroller link above are hilarious. I had no idea city folks take their ducks and rabbits for a stroll.
Now I really feel spoiled as I open the door and let my critters run around the farm.

I like that idea. Thank you. I have seen collapsible hampers, but not one with a zipper closure. I will do some more looking. That way she could sit up as well as lie down.

We went out with her crate yesterday. I sat in my chair on the patio and she was in her carrier in my lap. But she weighs 10 pounds, and the older I get, the heavier 10 pounds gets, even with the shoulder strap! So I thought about something with wheels.
I may try one of the hard plastic crates because that would give us both more support when she is in it in my lap.

Thank you, everyone, for all your recommendations. I appreciate them all and will check out the links.

When I was shopping for the pet stroller, after deciding upon the Gen7, I noticed that the same model, in different fabrics, varied substantially in price.

For instance, although I would have kinda liked the fun leopard print with hot pink trim version, it was significantly more expensive than the more neutral black/white grayish one, which I bought. I couldn’t justify the extra $.
