Jingles for the cat.
How’s the kitty? Jingles for the little guy/girl.
Any dog with prey drive will sooner or later try to grab a cat, with predictable consequences.
Training and NEVER allowing the dog to be alone with the cat may work, or muzzling the dog if it has to be with the cat AND providing a safe hole or three for the cat that the dog cannot enter.
Definitely the wrong dog for a non-pro situation. Sad for the dog, and very, very lucky for the cat. it only takes once…
How is the remaining dog with the cat? Is there any chance he might go after it?
Jingles for the little kitty. What a cutie!

Kitty is still hanging in there! I think he may live :). The remaining dog is hyper and not terribly trained (yet) but the cat is his buddy. I have video from before of them wrestling and playing. The cat would stalk and pounce on the dog. I had seen the male pull the female off “his” cat before.
Cat and dog have been kept strictly apart since this happened, but have been “talking” through the door. Cat seems afraid of dogs at the vet’s office, but not afraid of his dog.
I will get new pictures, the hole is still there, but I think it is smaller, and it definitely looks cleaner. Cat is no longer being force fed, but is getting all the canned, dry and tuna fish he will eat.
Glad to hear the little guy is doing well! Jingles continue! Please keep us informed on his progress.

Thank you so much for the update! I have had this kitty in my thoughts a lot!

That looks like it’s healing well. Go kitty!
New updated picture from last week. Vet continues to be pleased. Cat has forgotten he is hurt and refuses to take it easy.

Wow, that’s still a hole, for sure. Glad he’s doing so well! Any change in his living “situation”, like is he moving to your house in the future?
The biggest change was euthanizing the dog that attacked him. We are also working on obedience with the other dog in the house. They are also separated when not supervised. The remaining dog seems to think of the cat as a playmate, and is gentle with him-even when the cat is not gentle, but I still don’t trust it completely.

He stalks the dog like he does the people in this video too.
Ohhhhhh, gotcha. I didn’t realize the attacker was euthed. Yay for obedience lessons - always a good thing. Hilarious video! I love that cat!
