How does “Absolutely I do ! But when someone states CH could " ride and sit " before she went to Europe … Please …”
Have anything to do with her blog. You are saying PLEASE she could not ride and sit? Help me understand I’m confused.

This deserves more than a thumbs up.
I once watched a BNT clinic, where the clinic was organized by someone with an “in” to this very famous trainer. Instead of orchestrating a range of riders at different levels, two of the six riders were the organizer and his trainer. Both horses were usually ridden in draw reins by the two riders, as we who boarded there could attest. So in the clinic, sans draw reins, both horses were flipping their heads and refusing all contact. It was not just embarrassing, but a waste of the clinician’s and the auditors’ time.
In her blog, CH is saying she does not have the time to pre-audition riders for her clinics. She resents trainers roping their regular students into an expensive clinic just so they can have their lesson with a BNT. Is IS a waste of CH’s time.[/QUOTE]
Eta, errrm, sorry, meant to quote cnm but am on phone and can’t fix it.
Maybe it isn’t the best use of the amateurs’ money, but the whole “my teaching could be better directed at upper level riders” assumes that there is a pool of upper level riders who are being edged out by all these beginners.
I don’t get the impression that there is this pool of upper levelers being thwarted in their quest to ride with CHS. Her options at this point appear to be to direct her teaching at those who are currently filling the clinics, or direct it at only upper level riders and teach a lot less. This is not an indictment of her, just seems to be the situation.
I will take the liberty to speculate that those who have made it to the higher levels have done so with trainers they have been riding with longer than she has been back in the US. If their program has worked thus far and is continuing to work, why should they leave their current clinicians and go clinic with her?
You want an upper level clinic base? Keep coming back to the same places and make some upper level riders who owe it all to you. It takes time, and a dedication to those riders from the “back when” stages.
I remember very clearly who trained me “back when”, and who is training me through the middle levels and building the foundation for more. I support their clinics and program and will always remember with my actons who gave me the ability to ride my horse. So maybe this is why the upper level people aren’t jumping to leave the trainers who made them.
Maybe CHS needs to take the time to build her own roster of upper level students. From “back when”, not expecting other trainers to do the work for her.

If the trainer she choose in Germany to work with felt the same as she does now , where would Ms Haddad be now. He took a chance on an inexperienced rider whom had the drive and determination to make herself better. Some of her points might be valid but her way of explaining them makes her look and sound as if she forgot where she came from and went thru. Just too bad she didn’t keep this opinion to herself . This is MY Original post … You can read it to the way you want
She is saying DUH of course she could “ride and sit”, she was scoring 60%ish at PSG, (which some are saying is bad scores and some are saying was great scores, and I am making zero comment just summarizing), not drunkenly lolling off the sides of the horses.
Grayandbay is saying CHSs skill set was roughly “college swim team participant” when she went to Germany.
She is saying that your “she could ride and sit” response is akin to, “well, this college swim team participant could dog paddle”. Obviously he could dog paddle. Whether that skill alone indicates he is the next Michael Phelps is up for debate.

I took “my teaching could be better directed at upper level riders” to mean her teaching could be better directed at upper level riders. And the rest of her blog I read as a condemnation of trainers who send unprepared students off to clinics.
Amateurs: take charge of your riding destiny. Spend your money where it gets highest returns: riders need more lessons earlier in their career and benefit more from one-off clinics once the basis is there. You can’t build the foundation of a successful riding and training career in one clinic, no matter who’s teaching. Most of the amateurs I’ve seen that have stalled out at TL or 1st have done so because of lack of time in the saddle. If you’re not a “natural” rider, you’re not going to advance with 3 rides/week.
Haddad may need to build more of a business in the US before she gets nothing but FEI riders, sure. But I think if you overlook some of the tone issues, she’s got some good points hidden in there.

Back in the 90’s I personally knew more than one rider who went to Germany to train with her (anywhere from one week to six weeks) in a sort of temporary working student capacity. They didn’t take their own horses, they rode her up-and-coming and sale horses all day. They came back better riders and better trainers.
She is definitely willing to train the trainers.
After 315 posts, can someone come up with something that has not been pointed out or an original opinion instead of all this sniping? Please.
