Cats, Adequan, Online Pharmacies; Vaxes & Vets

Do any of you have experience giving cats Adequan?

Do any of you have experience getting cat prescriptions from online pharmacies?

All I have ever experienced with Adequan was boarding with people whose horses were given it sometimes.

I have no experience whatsoever with online pharmacies.

And while we’re on it, what would you think of a vet if he returned your cat to you from a blood draw, fur dripping with alcohol; and then gave your cat an FVRCP vaccination that left her sore and miserable for the first time ever after a vax?

I’v given a cat Adequate before, but didn’t see much of a difference for her so stopped. It’s a very small amount, but I don’t remember the exact calculation as it’s been years.

I’ve ordered from Allivet, Chewy and Valley Vet online for prescriptions, but I am now ordering from Rood and Riddle (they are surprisingly the cheapest, at least for Pracsend and such for my horse) mostly. I’ve never had any issues from any of the pharmacies. I used to order from Thriving Pets a lot, but their pricing skyrocketed and I’m not sure they are still in business or not.

I usually get my cats back bandaged up after a blood draw … which seems excessive to me, but dripping alcohol seems excessive in the other direction. I’ve had reactions (soreness) to vaccinations (feline and equine) for no apparent reason for one year, never before or after. So I wouldn’t necessarily blame the vet on her being sore.

Thank you for your feedback.

I commonly order horse and cat prescriptions from Chewy and Valley Vet. It’s super simple as long as your vet responds.

Dogs and cats use one of extra horse adequan bottles, generally cheaper that way, you just have to adjust the dosage.

Also, while it’s not labeled as such, you can give adequan sq to dogs and cats. I’ve used it on one cat and a few dogs and it’s made a difference, although I generally start with cosequin with the cats since it helps with cystitis as well.
