Every summer my cats go insane chasing any flies that get in the house. I’m not complaining at all I appreciate their hunting abilities and their willingness to EAT the flies. I just wish we could somehow turn it into a sport. A few minutes ago our new kitty Sage shot through the house on a hunt for a giant fly and caught it and ate it right in front of us. It cracks me and my husband up completely when he launches himself into the air and does these crazy leaps in his insane quest for THE FLY…hehe. Anyone else’s cats get this crazy??
Both my cat and dog love to chase and eat flies. It is so funny watching them both chase after the same fly.

about a cat catching a fly, one of the few times i actually have laughed out loud.
no cats here but my dogs are big on chasing flies, my jack russell is pretty successful too, even at 13.
My cats both love chasing and catching flies! Eating them, too. Their favorite thing of all is when a big moth gets into the house. SERIOUS hunting time! :lol:
Sage set a record today, NINE flies, chased them down, caught them and carried them into the living room where he munched 'em down. I think it quite possibly have been a dozen we lost track after nine. I kept thinking he’ll stop because he’s full (ew) but no he just kept at it. He is actually get better at it, last week he totally destroyed a crock I kept pencils on my desk in (tiny bits) chasing a fly. Today he efficiently just caught them and they were snack food…lol. My husband and I were cracking up we’d here buzzing and zap here comes Sage with his mouth pursed up to make sure we saw his prize.
Me: “He’s got another one…”
DH: “What’s that make seven, no wait eight right?”
Me: “Nope nine…um (laughing) when did we start caring about how many flies the cat is eating?”
DH: “When he started setting a new daily record…(totally serious)” lol…
