They really do have very different personalities. Some are sweet and snuggly. Some aren’t. Some are sweet but not snuggly. I have one that has a great sense of humor and another one with no sense of humor.
The one and only Cotton. There may possibly be other cats named Cotton in the world, though it’s an odd name, but I’m pretty confident he is the only Cotton who climbs trees on command.
The Third Feline Household Commandment. Only one cat at a time is permitted in my lap while I’m typing. Atticus knows the Commandments; he’s just wishing they didn’t apply.
Note also Pilgrim’s smug expression. He is fully aware that he has legal possession at the moment.
Aww, what a good boy. Waiting his turn.
Your pictures make me happy. Thank you.
The ambition level isn’t that high today at the Farm o’ Cats. Rainy day, good napping weather. Wish they could take a nap for me, too.
They certainly appear to be enjoying their rainy day of napping.
thank you thank you. what a way to start my day!
Rascal accompanies me on my morning brush-clearing walk in the woods about 75% of the time, reserving the right to be a bit inconsistent. Taking a walk with Rascal is fun. She ranges, up to 30 feet or so left, right, ahead, behind. Always keeps tabs on me and always quits when I do, but does her own thing. Independent affection. I love it.
Only Rascal? I’d think you’d have several stalking around in the woods.
The woods are STEEP. My property is on a ridge and consists of a section of the top of it (where the house and outbuildings and main pasture are) and then falling off one side of the ridge into what I call the V for obvious reasons. Elevation change within my own property I would guess at 200 vertical feet.
Anyway, most of the barn cats tend to hand out on the upper ridge, near the house and outbuildings, where it is flatter. I do occasionally see fringe cats at a distance flitting in the woods, but not closely. But it is a workout to go down there and back from the inhabited upper portion, which is one reason I’m honored that Rascal accompanies me (usually). If I happen to be working in the upper section, barn cats will come to supervise, but once I start heading down that big hill, almost everybody gives up promptly and turns back.
Solo was peacefully asleep in the basket when Psalm jumped in. Solo’s look at me cracked me up. She did assault the kitten a minute later, but she took a time-out for that disgusted look to me. Kids! Solo is not maternal at all. I sympathize, Solo.
Trying to share a few videos. From what I can tell, when I put videos on COTH, they work when they feel like it, a la Brigadoon. You have to catch an “on” interval. But hopefully these will work.

And also this morning, Mary discovered a spider on the ceiling and was having a fit (her slinky build and long legs are apparent here). Then I felt sorry for her and got out my long-handled duster to knock it down. Unfortunately, the cats all promptly keyed in on the duster, which they lust after even more than spiders. That didn’t quite go as planned.
Sentry cats patrolling the front yard last night.
Adding photos separately because it seems to have disliked them now, although the videos work at the moment. Sigh.
The CotH forums are having picture problems - pictures, videos, emojis, even avatars in quotes are not appearing. So it’s not you, it’s them! There’s a thread in the technical help area about this.
That look of disgust is meme worthy!! Lol
