Cavalia declares bankruptcy

By coincidence, I wondered whatever happened to Cavalia just about a week ago.

I went to see them in Nashville a few years ago. I still use the coffee mug I got. It was an amazing show.

That’s sad. They had a very smooth show and it seems they did right by their horses.

Very sorry to hear that - Never saw them but wanted to.

28 million in the hole. I wonder what will happen to the horses.

At least these guys have a soft landing with a prior performer (who has a great IG account btw) https://www.instagram.com/reel/DFbnB4ov0A2/

He’s barefoot! :hushed:

I bet he’s got a gymnastics or acrobat background and goes barefoot everywhere as a statement :). I believe Cavalia hired many performers with gymnastics, circus, acrobat, Cirque de Soleil, type background figuring they could teach them stunt riding more easily than they could get equestrians to do stunts on a trapeze! They did have professional horse trainers too on board, and did a lot of R plus in the liberty work. They traveled with about 60 horses and my impression was they each had one good trick or act. There was always a strong demand from the public to rehome retired horses.

I do liberty a bit and Cavalia had worked up some simple and basic moves into a very impressive show. They were a spinoff of Cirque de Soleil and I’m not the biggest fan of the general aesthetic of soaring music and giant projected awe inspiring backgrounds. There is something a little Eurovision cheesy to me, as an Anglophone Canadian. I’m more a Coney Island Freak Show fan, if you’re going to talk circuses.

But Cavalia did an excellent show (saw it live once), and did well by their horses.
