Hi everyone!
Wondering what the reviews are from those of you who have tried CBD oil to resolve pain issues with horses? I have a 23 year old gelding that has terrible pain in his knees. He is on Previcox and a joint supplement with high amounts of MSM, glucosamine and chondroitin, along with dried chamomile flowers to help reduce inflammation. He needs more pain relief. I was considering the tincture by Silver Lining as I use many of their products already and trust the company. I’m a fan of natural but this is new territory for me. Help please! Opinions, success stories, buyer beware warnings. What have ya got?
The horse is starting to have trouble getting up. My husband is leaning towards euthanasia but I want to try anything else that might alleviate his pain. I’ve heard good things about CBD oil but was hoping my fellow cothers would chime in with advice… Thank you!

No experience with horses. But I tried it for my bad back dog. Even used the same brand used by Cornell in their trials. Unfortunately it didnt work for her.
How about acupuncture and/or Chinese herbs?
A trial of pentosan?
i don’t know about the cbd oil ( it COULD make the horse sleepy or drowsy? ) but i have good result with alpha omega anti flam for my 33 year old mare who has arthritis and degenerative muscle and joint issues.she’s on a low dose of bute - we had tried previcox but found that bute works better - and seems to be pain free ,sometimes struggles to get up but so far,always managed .since the anti flam,the swelling in pastern has gone down and she walks almost limp free.you can also try massaging the affected areas ,daily if possible,to help with circulation /bloodflow.best of luck to know,i know how difficult it is to make the right decision.

Thanks everyone! Always appreciate hearing others experiences/advice. To my surprise, my vet said go for it. Thanks for ringing my bell on the acupuncture, Fellbutbackup. Will schedule an appt for some therapeutic needle time. He is on Silver Lining herbs, flax meal, dried chamomile flowers to reduce inflammation, did you have something specific in mind with regards to Chinese herbs? Pippigirl - Have heard others mention pentosan but I know nothing about it. Is it for pain? buzul - which alpha omega products do you use? Will try Bute instead of previcox and see if there is a difference. Will also make time to rub him down daily - had been using Bigeloil but with so many horses and my business, life got in the way and I got out of my routine… When one of the boys is feeling bad, I feel bad. i use Anti Flam which works on similar pathways like bute ( and along with bute ) but is all natural, and GLS powder as joint supplement and added Tedla ,a liniment for massaging and sweating.you can google alpha omega and get in touch with one of their advisors to find the best product for your horse as well.

My BO sells CBD on the side. She and her husband take it (both professionals) and they have 3 older dogs. They have seen big changes in the comfort of all 3 dogs (all over 12, including 2 greyhounds). I noticed a difference in the greyhounds because I see them all the time. I once asked her if she’d put her horses on it and she said it would be freakishly expensive to treat something as large as a horse.
