Celery for bored cats?

My as-of-yet un-named kitty is pretty happy here i think.

However he is NOT happy that the Dr wants him to stay a svelte 9 lbs, and is NOT happy that i feed him so very very little, in his opinion.

I feed him a frozen raw food, a scant handful twice daily–(I’m going for fat mouse size).

I supplement that twice day with a tiny handful of Friskies kibble,
(think baby mouse size) which he adores and i suppose is like delicious and indulgent food to him.
I want to replace this with something better for his health–so hope for a dry food recommendation which could be more like celery and less like poutine, ya know?

He also loves catnip, and i have a pot of that and a pot of cat grass (oats iirc) growing atm.

When those are ready they may help with the boredom, in the meantime what else can i do or feed him?

Oh, and i expect foster kittens in a few weeks, i expect he wont be bored then!!!

I like to feed a variety of things because I have two cats that have very different preferences.

For dry, I use Purina ONE Hairball formula cause it’s the only thing that keeps the old long haired one from upchucking.

Sometimes i give a handful of Earthborn Primitive (grain free).

Sometimes I give a 1/2 can of Fancy Feast- mostly classic chicken or fish varieties.

Sometimes I give some white tuna or canned salmon.

How old is your “unamed” one ?

He’s between three and six says the vet.
lately he’s begun sleeping with me, and has begun drive-bys== i mean tearing across the room with a bite of my toes as he streaks by me.
He likes his feather/catnip toy for about ten seconds, but is always willing to eat, lol.

Most definitely bored!

Skip the dry…or buy a grain free kibble. There are all types of cat toys now that do not need humans attached. Also a laser pointer could help, I know many people are against them, I just make sure my dog or cat has something physical (ball, stuffed animal, etc.) when we end the pointer play, to fulfill their sense of accomplishment.
