Central Virginia Eventing Scene

I will be relocating to Lynchburg, VA this summer. Would love recommendations on boarding and training facilities in the area. Currently horseless, and have been away from regular saddle time for several years, looking to get back to eventing (and/or jumpers).

I lived outside Lynchburg in the early 2000s for a few years. At that time, there wasn’t a lot of eventing in the immediate area, but you were at least close enough to areas like Charlottesville which had a fair amount of options. I don’t think that has changed. And the number of trainers in Charlottesville seems to have grown. It’s a bit far for boarding, but doable for semi-regular lessons.

Who’s in the Charlottesville area? Know who might be able to accommodate a currently horseless adult re-rider?

Kim Severson and Will Coleman immediately come to mind. But there are others. Hopefully someone who currently lives in the area has up to date recommendations. It’s a good area for horses, maybe not as much Lynchburg itself, but within a reasonable drive.

Gammon Castellvi at GC Equestrian in Raphine. Not sure of the status of her lesson program but she is a great resource for the dressage and eventing scene in the area.

Go to Charlottesville to work with Kim or Will if you’re upper level. Gammon does a great job for LL eventing

Kiki Osbourne - Dappir Ridge Eventing - has a fun group. She is a great trainer and a fun person to be around, doesn’t pressure her students beyond their abilities.
