I am wanting to take the jump out of my comfort zone. I want badly to become proficient at an english discipline, I have grown up with western ranch riding, I have sat in an English saddle a few dozen times for giggles.
However I am wanting to improve my abilities for the sake of my self and my aninals, afterall you never stop learning. The more knowledge I have in other areas the better off I am!!
Yet here I am unable to find instructors.
I live in central washington, it’s mainly all western, cowboy, dominated. So far the very few I have looked into within an hours drive does not offer English focus. A few were natural horsemanship that had no real focus.
As far as I can tell if I want to find a lesson barn that suits my needs I will have to go over the pass (not wantjng to do that any time soon)
So now I am stuck trying to figure out if that is my only option. I would love to gave 2 or 3 a week, but if its gunna be a two hour trip one direction? That’s just about a whole day ordeal.
a friend of mine gave me her old pony club manuals and some more english based stuff, sadly she is in Alaska or she would be teaching me ha.
I guess I am curious as to what others would suggestsay few people have told me to try and just teach myself but I would rather not teach myself something that would end up having to be un taught later. Or Is there a way to do this that can be effective?
I feel a bit like a greenie asking but I have been raised in the western world so long it feels like starting over. Ha
