That was the name hahaha
Nope, when I knew her she only had a QH gelding named Reggie…that was it.
Novice, there were tons of problems with the neighbors when I was at Marilyn’s place (next to White Oak) 10 years ago. I just want to smack those people and say “hello…you moved NEXT to a barn, what do you expect???”. White Oak and Marilyn’s place were there LONG before those houses were built!
I’m glad to hear that they are reviving White Oak. It’s a prime location. Sam really let it deteriorate…it was sad watching that happen. I was one of the last borders there before all the horses were gone from there (around 1989).
Are you from that area? If so, I bet we know some of the same people!
How about Patsy?
Just thought I’d share that. You know, like the family friend who had a dairy in Dairy Valley, later Cerritos, upon which Cerritos Mall now stands. Who then moved to Chino and had a big dairy. Upon which houses now stand. Who then had two dairies, one in Winchester and one in Canyon Lake, bla bla bla. Talk about buying property in the right place.
Didya know that there used to be a Dutch dairy where Triangle Square in Costa Mesa now rests??
Still off the 91 freeway in Riverside. At least there are still signs for it…
And, the cow smell is still pretty pervasive at certain points of the 15 freeway b/w the 91 and the 60. (bet those numbers will make a LOT of sense to most people)
I didn’t think Larry Langer was married to Diane Langer. Larry Langer has posted here a few times.
Or I would go through some olde HORSES.
I am wondering if it is someone from Foxfield, like Nancy Kraft?
Cindy Hough was showing in the 15 - 17 group in 1972.
AAJumper…I bought my mare Africa from Marilyn this past May…she was out of of her mare, Victorian Star, and a gift for her daughter in law, Carol. She called her “Secret” before Carol named her Africa. Carol co-owns or leases (not really sure…) the place next door, the former White Oak stables!

Thanks, AA … I can picture both White Oak and Rocky Peak (and, of course, Sleepy Hollow) but I obviously have them placed in the wrong spots. Huh. I must’ve accidentally gotten ahold of Merry’s map book!

I remember Mary Walker (I think). Did she have a horse with a name having to do with cowboys?
Update - brain may be returning to life…
Was it Midnight Cowboy - dark bay with white socks?

Thank you rexford, Patsy it is.
This photo was taken of my horse Gaily Go at The Forum in 1971. Ken Nordstrom had him for sale for us while I was in college in the LA area, and was showing him in the Open Working division there.
The rider pictured in this photo showed him in the Ladies Working Hunter Class (for you youngsters, yes they actually had those classes way back when… ). I watched her in the class but have no clue as to who she was. I am assuming one of Kenny’s assistant trainers, but possibly one of his students instead? Anyone have any idea? No big deal, but it would be fun to know who it was!

But which of the (many ) Mrs. Nordstroms was he, ahem, on at that point in time? Could it have been her? Isn’t Debbie a blonde?

I am having a senior moment now, but the cute little nose makes me think it is the lady who is currently married to Larry Whazzizname (the man who manages all the horse shows out there.) — Diane ______ Whazhername. This is about the third marriage for both of them…
Cindy Hough Brooks would have been abut 10 when this picture was taken.
Remember “Twiggy” Langer?
Was that Lois?
LOL Merry! It was sad how run down those places got. I remember when I first moved there how nice I thought those places were. But a few years later they got really run down. I believe there are still horses at White Oak, but Sam had sold off the barns several years ago. Now I think there are just pens. For a long time I was at the place next door, owned by a woman named Marilyn. It was a co-op place…clean your own stall!
Oh my dublin, my eyesight is failing me! Sorry bout that. Well, guess it’s time to kick it up to, gulp, 2.00’s!!! But hey, I can see an ant crawling up the side of a house…
As to the LL saga. Me thinks it’s been 4 wives, hmmm, or is that 5? We’ll just have to invite him here to tell us.
Beezer, Since Merry’s map book seems a tad dicey on directions if it can’t place stables in your area of S California, and, since I want you to come visit me here in the bee-yoo-ti-ful Ky bluegrass, I will provide directions:
Take I-15N to I-40E. Take I-40E for 1215 miles to I-44E. Take I-44E for 483 miles to I-64E. In only 328 more miles you are at my doorstep.
Now what could be easier?
