Charles Mann also to have Daily Olympic Photo Coverage *Dressage pics up*

That’s what it appeared like, but then, it looked like he managed to go on to jump another obstacle after that. Was curious if he pulled up and fixed it or if that was another horse I was seeing after those frames.

He pulled up and fixed it and continued on as seen in images 6197 and 6208.

I just got home from Hong Kong and have to say that these Olympics rank 2nd to Sydney’s with Athens 3rd and Atlanta 4th, for the 4 Olympics that I have covered. The people of Hong Kong and especially the Hong Kong Jockey Club did an excellent job with the arena and stabling, not to mention the volunteers who were in charge of catering to the media, riders, officials and support staff. Yes, it was not perfect but none of these types of events can be perfect.

I am catching up on the NBC coverage via TiVo and wanted to share my observations of the “video wall”. I made it a point to photograph the wall during the Grand Prix Special. I don’t think the video wall itself was the problem but the images shown on the screen during the competition. It went from a wide shot to a close-up in an instant.

That sudden change in the image on the screen and if the horse was watching the screen could be spooked by it. The other issues that I noticed were the fix camera next to the “C” Judges stand, which BTW was changed to a smaller camera after the Eventing Dressage. Then there was the remote camera atop of the “B” marker.

This camera would pan and tilt as the horse and rider would go by. At first the camera was covered with clear plastic that reflected the stadium lights. They then covered it with this green covering and tried to hide it a little better with the plants.

Anyway, sorry that I was not able to keep up with the daily galleries, but the hours and need to satisfy the obligations prevented me from making them available right after the competitions. I am in the process of posting all the galleries that I was not able to get up before now. So check back over the next couple days to find more galleries from the Games.

Thanks again to everyones kind comments. I glad you all have enjoyed viewing them.

Charlie
