Charles Mann also to have Daily Olympic Photo Coverage *Dressage pics up*

Hi guys!!

Charlie is now en route to China, though tonight he is only going as far as Chicago. He leaves from Chicago tomorrow and will arrive in Hong Kong on Thursday sometime.

His website Olympic update page is ready and waiting for him to arrive and start shooting. And as a huge benefit for many casual browsers, you DON’T need to register. You can simply come online and view his galleries.

http://www.cmannphoto.com/Olympics.htm

He still has his entire image galleries from both the 2006 WEG at Aachen, and the 2004 Athens Olympics online. So by browsing those you will get a sense of what you will see from Hong Kong. And you can see some of your favorite horses and riders who are returning from medal winning efforts in Germany and Athens. There are great shots of ISP Salinero, Authentic, Poggio, and so many others…whose names I have trouble recalling!!

So come on over and enjoy. Oh and Charlie can also be reached for high res downloads to interested folks as well. His contact info is on his site: www.cmannphoto.com

Update He made it to Chicago. (Sounds like nothing, but as worried as I get when he travels, every completed step is a sigh of relief)

Thank you, Emily --and THANK YOU, Charles Mann.

It is so gracious and generous of him to offer this to all of us.

I’ve already bookmarked the site…So often, his images help provide the feeling of ‘being there’ and giving another dimension to knowing how a ride went ,how a horse ‘looked’.

Must say, with all the videos and blogs and news coverage, etc, of these Olympic games, I still am rather in shock at the TeamUSA website.

What federation–trying to attract money-- in this day and age demands that people have to register in order to SEE photos???

Oh well, that sort of goes with the rest of the website, only about 5 years behind the times (a lifetime in cyberspace).

Charlie is in Hong Kong!!!

He didn’t sleep on the plane so look for some very interesting pictures tomorrow once his eyes remeber how to focus.

More to come soon.

~Emily

Emily was right I could not sleep on the plane, so I crashed once I got to the hotel after my 15 hour flight over the North Pole. There are a couple images on my site and more to come later today after the 1st inspection of the eveting horses and our own Opening Ceremonies.

As always, Charlie’s photos are my favorites.

Yay Charlie! Awesome pics as usual! I love the stalker paparazzi ones of David & Mark…hehe…

Just for a clear picture of how the “Mann” does his job…

He just called me at 12pm our time, 12 am his time. He had just gotten back to the hotel, was taking a shower and a ‘nap’. He has to be up at 4am to make it over to the venue and have everything ready again for the 6:30 am start time. (Again we are 12 hours behind so thats 6:30pm)

Thankfully after that the dressage is done and Charlie is hopeful to get some sleep. All told he has done all this shooting off roughly 7 hours sleep over two days.

So think about how lucky we are to be able to casually click through his images while he is sweating himself thinner and working monstrous hours.

Great pics hon. Keep 'em coming.

~Em

Correction Emily the is 7 hours over the past three days.
Anyway, I thought some of you might be interested in the local take on the equestrian news here in Hong Kong. Ever morning at the media breakfeast we sit a read over the South China Morning Post.

Thanks, Charlie-As usual, pix are fab!

Those pictures are AMAZING! Thank you so much for posting the links to them!

Gina’s horse really was great on XC! He made it look like child’s play!

What happened to this guy’s stirrup?
http://www.cmannphoto.com/2008_Olympics/Event_XC/pages/08BOGOC006189.htm

Mike Winter and King Pin (CAN) had a run out and hit the brush and it unhooked his stirrup strap. Look closely at the three images before that one.

I like this one

I just e-mailed a friend who thought they saw me on TV and when she saw that pic she knew it was me. I should have taken a picture of myself and all the mud the Phillip and Connaught threw on me and the blased by.
