I am glad to see her back; IMO she acknowledged her bad training event, accepted the suspension with a fair amount of class and then laid low for the year. It may take a bit but she will get horses back to compete.

Agree, and as I said in the original thread, I really hope she shows she learned and is willing to be an advocate for doing better by the horse.

Is Special Effect that beautiful black young horse she had? I was really excited to see them work together.

I think the beautiful black horse she was riding was Secret Agent.

Valegros damaged nose always told the story of the not so kind training going on in that team. I foresee a phone ban on any clinics she runs in the future.

This may be of interest;

Thanks for posting this update.

I hope she has a positive return to competition.

Based on the quips in Laura Graves’ article, sounds like that was a thing across the board, hence the rule being necessary.

There have been phone bans on clinics she has run in the past, so that will be nothing new.

I read somewhere where she may leave Carl Hester’s yard and the new horse is only there on a temporary basis until that can be arranged. I think it was in the UK press.
Carl has done some incredibly generous things for her so I’m sure he had to be disappointed about her behavior.

Here is the article from The Times: https://www.thetimes.com/sport/olympics/article/charlotte-dujardin-ban-dressage-whipping-kqklvq5w5?msockid=3b4c6e3053bf6b063e937a5052666add&region=global

Well, that was downright ugly.

Ugly, for sure. Not entirely clear what she was trying to accomplish.

One thing I don’t get, is the comment about “Now back in the saddle, Dujardin begins a new chapter – with a renewed focus, a new horse, and a lot to prove.” These aren’t her words, they are the authors, but what does she have to prove? Her talent and skill as a rider was never in question. We know she’s a very good rider with very good horses. I don’t think the author means that she has a lot to prove in the way of not abusing a horse, so that comment doesn’t make sense to me. If they are trying to say that she has a chip on her should because she should never have been banned…well…

Maybe that she can still perform at the same level after a year off and having a kid?

Maybe so. I hadn’t thought of her having a child. But I don’t think anyone was counting her out as an underdog.

She has to prove that she does not habitually whip horse’s legs. That incident has a bad smell.

I don’t think there was ever a question that she “habitually” did what was shown on that video, rather than an outlier. If she did it “habitually”, she’d be much more effective.
