Charlottesville VA info~

We are moving later this year! I have a lead on a boarding spot but would like to get more ideas.

Any tips or places to board? It seems like a big H/J area and I don’t want/need a huge fancy barn to board at!

You can try here for classifieds for boarding barns

Thanks!

paintedtrails-where are you going to be in Charlottesville? Am happy to give you some ideas as I’ve lived in the area for a long time. You are welcome to send me a PM if you’d like

Still on the hunt…thought I had a good spot for self-care but may not work out as there is only 1 rental house near there to look at! Now looking all around until we lock in the rental house and I can figure out where the gelding goes!

I’ve lived in charlottesville for 26 years! Where exactly are you going to be? (Feel free to PM me). I have my guys boarded at an amazing barn that is very affordable.

Sent you a message AliCat518!

Alright - we got a rental house in Palmyra area…anything out that direction you all recommend?

Nice area. I was raised in Henrico Co., west of Richmond. Check barns in Goochland Co. I am fuzzy on where Palmyra is, however

Go to virginiaequestrian.com and into the classifieds. They have a boarding section and when I did a search in the boarding on the word “Palmyra” three ads came up. One thing about the web site. You have to “clear” one search before doing a new search. You will see a clickable “CLEAR” button on each search page.

Anyway, that entire area south of I-64 has tons of parks and WMAs to ride at. http://belmeadstablesandridingclub.com/ may be a bit further than you want but the facility has around a 1000+ acres with marvelous trails to ride on and numerous events held there thru the year.

Thanks! I hadn’t got that search to work correctly before…

Back on the hunt due to some changes and a move from the rental. We now live in Stony Point and work by the airport…
New barns/suggestions?

still looking? Stoney Point/Airport area area so maybe Earlysville area to the east or north to Ruckersville area for boarding options. I’d check the Virginia Equestrian, the local hunt Farmington has an online classified section. There are places up that way…

Palmyra is towards richmond

Try calling Four Oaks, they are HJ but will know who has spots. Palmyra has a few boarding barns, one is not a high pressure situation and is in the county and I think has trails but I have forgotten the name of it.
One of my friends was leasing at a great privateish place in Keswick. there are several nice places in tat area as well.
good luck, wish it was me.
